Doing soft credit check without updating

I know that a soft or "quotation" search doesn't mean anything, but those all search results showing all the time in my credit report. these are "soft" searches. But none the less why are "Madison Cf Uk LTD T/A 118 118 Money" CONSTANTLY searching my credit file (particularly Transunion).
It's not good because when I am trying to have a quick scan through my searches (for good credit file practice). It is just littered with these searches. I'm talking several a month,Why do they have a right to do this and what are they doing??

Are you using directory assistance a lot?
