Look after yourself too - remember the aircraft oxygen mask regime; if you don't look after yourself you won't be around to look after someone else. 💕💕💕Aiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

@PipneyJane funny you should say that, I've been wondering why the hospital don't operate their own "charity" shop. (The other "distributed half" of the joint hospitals do.) They'd have a captive audience of people who have been taken in with only what they're wearing at the time - comfortable, practical, affordable clothing would fly out of the doors and onto the wards!
He's on the mend now, slowly but surely. They let him eat solid food today for the first time in a week - he's thrilled! Not sure just how well he's remembering things, but it's very early days...Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)11 -

Dear @thriftwizard,
Your husband seems to have impeccable timing. I hope he has a speedy recovery.8 -
I have been frittering the egg money away again on vintage linens from the second hand goods sales. Oh dear! In the 1940 Times recently there was a little piece on the rising price of fruit making it expensive to use the extra ration of sugar for jam making. But that wasn’t the news I meant to tell you, under that it said egg producers were selling eggs at the same price as retailers, and the Ministry was going to take action, without warning. I think eggs are going to be rationed, but don’t tell anyone. I am looking for some pullets.
My bargains were three unused, linen, hand towels for £1.99, and five linen tray cloths, three unused, were also £1.99. The seller combined the postage. I like to use old tray cloths as napkins and to wrap things. I have a few glass beads and buttons to turn little crochet doilies into jug covers, so useful for tea in the garden.
I bought a colourful sisal beach/shopping bag for £5 in the sale at TKM.
Isn’t this handkerchief wonderful? I do dislike Rayon fabric, so that kept my purse closed.

Too warm for me to do much today (sorry I know it’s not hot for everyone).@PipneyJane how are you getting on with your chemo, are you still in the cottage hospital or have you been released? Did you manage to knit anything, I should think it’s quite difficult if you’ve got a drip in. Hope it all went smoothly for youLife is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Good morning All
Here’s some blueberry cakes. (I believe our American allies call them “muffins”.). I’ll just make a fresh pot of tea. Love the hankie @Nelliegrace. How’s Mr TW this morning @thriftwizard?PollyWollyDoodle said:Too warm for me to do much today (sorry I know it’s not hot for everyone).@PipneyJane how are you getting on with your chemo, are you still in the cottage hospital or have you been released? They discharged me on Saturday, @PollyWollyDoodle. It went OK, although I threw up on Tuesday. I think that was actually due to a migraine, not the drugs, because I had the headache before they administered my chemo - I woke up with it - and it eased immediately after I threw up. (At that point, they hadn’t given me any painkillers.).
Yes, I could knit but I decided that I couldn’t face anything complex, so stuck to knitting socks. Once the first 10 rows of the body are done, I should be OK but, given how hot it is, the Aran sweater may get put away until October/when the weather cools down. I am sorely tempted to find something lighter to knit.
