Wow all seems to be moving forward quickly here, very exciting!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Good morning from our new house!
The wifi was turned on earlier today so both DD and I are WFH today. DH has gone back to our old London borough to sign on (last but one appointment). He will be back by lunchtime all being well.
The move went smoothly, mostly due to a full truck leaving on the Friday so only the beds and sofas plus some last boxes to move on the actually completion date of Monday. The house was clear by 10.30am and then DH, DD and I cleaned it thoroughly. The new owner isn't moving in until this weekend so only a couple of days' worth of dust to settle.
We were in the new house with the door shut at 4pm as there were 10(!) removal guys to bring stuff in. They were excellent, made up the beds, wardrobes etc. Totally awesome team work and really nice chatty guys too.
The new house is probably more of a project than we first thought and there are a few annoying things, BUT we are going to take our time, and I've already started a list of spares to order (oven door handle held on with tape, freezer box drawer broken) to make things a little easier. I think the biggest thing for me is the lack of kitchen cupboard space as there are two integrated under counter fridges (no freezer apart from one little box) and I think I'd rather have more cupboards. So plan is to maybe buy a free-standing American fridge freezer. We are very much living day to day with groceries as I had to go back to the office on Tuesday and WFH at my DSis's yesterday. We are yet to do a big shop.
Our bedroom has a very dated en-suite but the electric shower is fine and will do until we update that room. DH is fiddling with the heating to get it good for us as our bedroom feels very cold in the evening. The couple that moved out were 80 and I think that generation are made of stronger stuff - definitely know my Mum doesn't switch her heating on much!
We still have a mortgage c. £37k. The amount NatWest quoted us last week and the amount the solicitor ported as part of the completion statement differ, so DH is on the case with that.
The most pressing thing is to get the proceeds/equity of the sale out of our current account which is currently sitting at c. £200k and giving me nightmares. Good problem to have, I know. We will be looking at best options for that this evening now the internet is up and running.
I also need to get my head around taking a break from work, to sort the house/garden, have a rest etc. There's a part time receptionist role at the local (walkable) vets which is two long days and a Saturday morning. Seriously tempted so might apply and see what gives as that work pattern is ideal for me and I don't feel ready to completely retire. Also have money anxiety as my Mum worked until 67 following a divorce and I know we will go through our savings once we start changing things up here.
So much to think about, but glad we made the move as it has really lifted DH's spirits.
