Divorced or not? How to find out.

If you genuinely can't find any trace of her since 2002, it's likely she's either died or moved abroad. Given your time constraints, I think I'd be paying a tracing agent to find her now (before waiting for the 30 years of seaches). If he has in fact been widowed, he won't need divorce papers. If she's still alive and really did get divorced, she might have copies of the divorce papers. If she's still alive and still married to him, he'll need to make serious attempts to find her before he's able to divorce her.

Hi all.  

Thanks for your replies.  Some made me laugh to be fair.  

Anyhow, an update, we spent the £195 to search for the 30 years since, and lo and behold, my partner did actually divorce her in 1997!!  (What a bad memory he has).
we are now awaiting the official copy of the decree absolute and I’ve not cancelled our wedding which is a good job, as we had booked the honeymoon!!!

aw thank you for your comment.  

I was starting to wonder if she was no longer alive sadly.  

However the postman has just been and his is divorced, 1997, she may very well be alive and kicking but it matters not, as they are divorced and our wedding can go ahead. 

Panic now, what does a 60 year old twice divorced woman blinking wear??

Whatever you like... I'd go for smart, comfortable, would wear them again but not every week ... personal shopper at John Lewis? Take photos and check you're happy.
