I'm yet to check out the links - Christmas time out - but I have got the D drive on my laptop.
Supposed to keep stuff safe in case of crashing but it takes up room on the hard disk overall so no real help is it?

I realise I.need to get stuff sorted/deleted but still trying to get the new house and garden done.

Re fire and flood I used to keep the usb sticks by the front door to grab on escape  :D
Thought I was the only obsessed one...knew a lady whose house burned and her one regret was family photos.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Hi, I have an old laptop so no blue tooth/blue ray and I don't want to use the cloud. or storage sites
I want to keep them on hard copy.
    ....

Why don't you want to use cloud storage?
With Google you get 15GB free or with idrive you get 10GB free, and it's not expensive to get 100GB, plus it has very good security and encryption.

Cloud is terrible for the environment, countryside and rainwater. All for the junk no one looks at.
It's also vulnerable to others control + plus I have more than that.

Getting up in the morning is bad for the environment.

Perhaps, but has anyone considered the impact of online forums, and online versions of magazines, and what you contribute to saving the planet using them.

No storage method has zero environmental impact.
I wouldn't dismiss eg people's memories as "junk no-one looks at"
I also wouldn't base a decision on a click bait article.
