Have now received the compulsory mediation call appointment...25/11.
What is a mediation call appointment, please?
An appointment where both parties join a conference call with an appointed mediator, the mediator will try to get both sides to settle, to avoid the court hearingstage , the advice for defendants is generally not to agree to any settlement, other than drop hands and both sides withdraw and walk away ( rarely is that going to happen. )

Attendings mediation is now a compulsory stage for recent claims that started in june 2024 or later, the changes date was late May

Thanks @Gr1pr, for that clear explanation. I'll be very interested to hear how that turns out. I assume the court appoints the mediator?  Has anyone on the forum experienced such a call.  Are there any documented rules available about how it proceeds, etc? If so, where would I find them?
Quite a few people have been through it and reported on it in other recent cases

No idea about rules etc, but apparently it goes the way it was explained earlier, but generally the defendant doesn't offer anything, apart from £0.00, so each side usually sticks to their guns and no settlement is agreed, end of call, carry on towards a hearing

The more you read, the more you learn on here, and mediation has been in play for several months since they changed it back in May

I would suggest that you keep an eye on this thread and see what the feedback is from the OP, seeing as it could be the same for your case
That's really helpful, thank you, @Gr1pr. I am keeping my eye on as many OPs as possible, and I certainly agree with your penultimate paragraph!  Its all very confusing at my advanced age.....

    Update:
Today had my mediation call. The mediator was pleasant and had already had their call with DCBLegal who offerred and ludicrously high amount as their discounted offer which I of course refused, stated my standpoint and arguments and that the only offer I would accept would be them paying for the extensive hours I have wasted on their Scams.

Call ended with no agreement as per expected.
Great response, thanks.  I shall be doing the same when my turn comes.

    Update:
Today I received a Notice of Transfer of Proceedings to my requested local county court.

I assume I now wait until I receive the 'Case Management Directions' from the judge?

Please check out the 12 steps in the Template Defence sticky - your path is detailed there.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

    Update:
Today (07/01/2025) I received my 'Notice of Allocation to the Small Claims Track'. I note that it provides a date whereby VCS have to have paid the court trial fee else the case is thrown out.
