@Florafauna, how are you feeling now you have given in your notice? I hope you feel a sense of relief after all that pressure

Three months for me too @FIREDreamer, and like you I’m in the quietly quitting mode. Interestingly, I also work in financial services!

Are you starting to think about what your new routines might look like?

Three months exactly until my first official day of retirement. Can’t wait - my stress levels are coming down already as I seem to be in quiet quitting mode now.

If I had my time again I would have done something different to working in financial services. On the plus side I have managed to get a nice pension pot to enable a decent quality retirement at 60.
Do you have anything in mind to do on that first day, when you were due to be in work? I've been thinking I should do something on my first day.

OH missed this when he retired, his penultimate day at work was a Tuesday and due to an unusual shift pattern his last day would have been a Sunday. But his boss said don’t worry about coming in! I was working the rest of that week, so next day the alarm had to go as usual. Also, we hadn’t planned a holiday immediately because the School holidays were underway, and with hindsight this was a mistake. Planning something different for me….my first day is hopefully a year today!

    First day?
Pretty well my first 20 days were spent cycling LEJoG.  Kind of solo, but with my wife along as support at the very start, a dozen pals along the way joining in for a few miles here & there, plus the final 3rd with 3 mates doing the Scottish section 💪
A fantastic way to totally decompress 😎👍

Definitely plan some stuff for your first week.

I had actually planned to leave 2020, but then Covid struck, so I loitered around another year.  Certainly once you have made the decision, I feel you can very easily enjoy your last days.
I got on very well with my “management team”, & was able to give them lots of notice (wouldn’t necessarily recommend that to most!), and I also spent some considerable time during my last year (or so) writing lists of things I wanted to do.
    Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!

@handful and @Knophofia7, I’m back to work today, but wondering how you were feeling?

I don't have a retirement date yet but decided long ago that I would book a holiday to start immediately after I finish (as a sort of divider between work and retirement).

I am in the fortunate position of going on garden leave soon for six months, on full pay, so a good chance to establish a retirement routine whilst still being paid, best of both worlds!  Have no concrete plans at all for the first couple of months other than relaxing as last three years have been extremely challenging at work.  Will potter around the garden, paint the summerhouse, arbor, fence and shed as well as garage doors, but in my own time, and as and when I want to.  If it gets done then great, if it doesn’t I’m not going to stress about it.  Can’t wait to g-day
