Burst Water Main on Boxing Day

I live in Scotland. It has been cold today reaching a max of 3°c
This evening at 9pm we became aware of a kerfuffle outside. It transpired that there is a burst water main opposite our house.
There is a mechanical digger and three trucks. The guys are still there and it’s now 11.30pm. Not surprisingly our own water is off. The hole is deep enough that when the guy jumps in ( they are now digging by hand) I can only just see the top of his head.
This is Boxing Day. We, and most others are enjoying a holiday. These guys are out there in the freezing cold, for our benefit, with little thanks.
They have responded to a leak in ? Hours. I certainly didn’t see it this morning when I walked the dog, or even this afternoon when we both went for a drive. So it had only existed for a short while. It’s an excellent response from the ‘team’. I only hope we have water again in time for my morning coffee. ( Just now I’m managing with wine, in place of my usual Ovaltine!)
I know the water companies get a lot of bad press, but their response today has been exemplary.

This is the sort of response that people hope for and frequently get but are unable to understand that's why they have to pay a standing charge for the privilege.
For some reason people don't seem to whinge quite as much about their water S/C as they do for gas and leccyNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers3
