Home Insurance - Flat number not showing in drop down list

Hi
I was searching for Home Contents insurance. This property has multiple floors and a number of flats on each floor. This property is what I guess is a type of Hall Of Residence, though let out to professionals as well.
Some examples - Post Office, Admiral are only showing the property number, but no flat number at all. Where as gocompare, confused.com, uswitch etc showing, other flat numbers on my floor
Any one having an idea why my flat number would not appear in the drop down list, and who owns the database.
Thanks in advance.

@skray If that's your address, remove it to avoid scammers - put in a fake address instead.
If your flat isn't listed it might be because the Royal Mail database hasn't had it added - we have the same problem and just enter the address manually. For us the only way of fixing it (last time we checked) is paying to have the database updated for every flat in the building - which is expensive.0 -
If it's "a type of hall of residence" then I expect the individual rooms aren't on the Royal Mail address list because the postie just delivers to the front desk?
But also, does the insurance you're looking for cover that set-up anyway?0 -

I am looking for contents insurance only - how would I check if the insurance provider covers this type of setup or what is so exclusive to this type of setup. The flat number two doors away is appearing in the list and if I were occupying that property I believe I could have easily purchased insurance - I found nothing in the questionnaire that suggests this type of property or occupation is not covered.
It could be said I live in a students accommodation but the flats are let out to professionals as well. There are some insurance providers that specialises in this type of property.0 -
I honestly can't remember, possibly Royal Mail - it was 9 years ago, the quote was around £2k (for 11 flats) as every flat needed adding.
I see the Royal Mail has a checker/updater

Personally I've not found a service that doesn't allow me to add the full address manually, at worst sometimes I have to list our flat number in a 'business name' field, where I write Flat [number]1 -
When I moved into a rented flat at 42B High Street, I couldn't find the address on many drop down menus so got quotes by phoning a few companies instead.
Eventually found my address. Others in the block were fine as 42A, 42C and 42D, but mine was shown as 'Flat B, adjacent to 40 High Street' Strange.0 -
The file that businesses use is called the Royal Mail PAF (Postcode Address File) - I know because I use to receive and have to apply regular updates of it to our computer systems. I'm not sure how you go about getting an address added to it though.

My inlaws had this problem with their flat when a new block went up next door and a portion of the IL's building was sold. Suddenly RM changed their data base so while theirs - Flat 1, 2 High St - had been fine for decades it suddenly disappeared off anything when trying to do stuff online. Also because FiL didn't do IT he had problems just trying to ring a company because they wouldn't find his address - even when he'd been a customer for years (like with British Gas & BT etc). Problem was finally sorted - for free - when FiL complained. He was a rather forceful individual so they might have done it for free just to shut him up.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards.
