set up new BT essentials account for mum but now have 2 accounts

I was on BT essential's at home but didnt need it any more but my mum who lives with me does need a landline/broadband so I phoned to cease my account and transfer to her
so spoke to BT rep and he said you cant do that you have to cease one account and start a new account for mum but shed have to have a normal BT BB account first then when it was up and running change to a BT essential package
ok fine so i agreed to that and the BT rep spoke to my mum and took all her details and the emails all came thru to say my account would cease and my mums would activate on 21 and 22 Dec
so dec 21 came and my BB went off and they had sent a new router and on 22 dec that activated fine. so i was pleased.
then when i called them up to say id like to change mum to BT essentials and they said that wasnt possible as it was still in my name and i have 2 accounts i looked on my BT page and now it seems i have 2 accounts with me as the accounts holder for both! i spoke to the rep and he said that he would see if accounts could change it over to my mums name and get back to me but didnt
my question is how likely is this to work? looking at the BT forum they say its not normally possible unless i die! but that was the reason i phoned and i explained clearly that what i wanted and the rep said it would be fine
if they cant do that as im within the 14 day cooling off period would i have to cancel? and start all over again?
it all seems a mess and does anyone know when they open after Xmas? is t boxing day or the 27th

Save yourself months of grief trying to deal with BT, cancel the change and sort it out between yourselves unless you’ve got a problem with other relatives, BT don’t do complicated, I tried to transfer an account a decade ago in the way that you are trying to do and BT cancelled the phone number, at the time I was dealing with funeral directors, solicitors, estate agents, probate etc.

after a couple of phone calls with 3 differnt BT staff I got the correct result (hopefully)
i had to do a working line take over for my mum as a completely new user on home essentials
and as i was within 14 days of go live the 2nd contract will cost nothing
so now i go live 11 jan 24
fingers crossed it all goes well0
