  • If you going to get anything over 37 inches get a plasma. Motion blur on big LCDs is horrible
Nothing to see here, move along.

It is on cheaper plasmas too - I've got a 40" LCD infront of me which has no probs with motion blur whatsoever. But it's not a cheapo Aldi special etc.
  • Same. I have a 40" LCD, the Samsung.. with no 100mhz but motion blur isn't a problem :)

If you sit directly 1" in front of it it may be....

As far as Which is concerned it is a "no contest" LCD is a clear winner according to my check 5 mins ago online

  • Lol my best friend has a Sony Bravia. I have a Samsung.

In all honesty, there's not much difference! Standard definition seemed a bit clearer on the Sony Bravia which confused me, but we were sitting further back then with my Samsung... so that was prob it...

I just went for the higher contrast ratio. Sure I don't have the 100mhz but hey, it's not really needed as far as I'm concerned! Wont spend extra money for it as currently fast moving scenes look brilliant already to me :)

When I got mine 13 months ago, I remember reading that Sony and Samsung were collaborating and producing all their LCD panels in one factory for both brands.
  • yup the panels are the same (think LG were also using samsung panels) but the panel isn't the be all and end all, the electronics and software controlling it has a huge part to play.

i read with interest that the Plasma TVs seem to have got their power consumption under control .. is this correct. A friend of mine bought a 42" (I think) plasma a few years back .. he has always used the running joke that what it costs him in electricity he saves in heating

I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!
  • Ivan, modern day plasma's are similar prices to LCD screens. They are under a lot more control
