    Yes no button on the left.

    No, not on the left.  Motorola had this annoying third button on the right which was for Assistant and you could not disable it.  Keeps getting accidentally pressed and turning assistant on.

    Gestures are worth switching on, once you get used to them after a few days you won't want to go back to the old antiquated back and home buttons.

    The old UI will get killed in future versions anyway.

    Turn off is power and volume up together, there was a small manual with the phone explaining this, As said above you can change the power button to hold for off, I have now done this.

    I recall google saying that, but it needs special fingers that I don't have, or an attack with both hands, much better to change the power button back to actually being a power button.

    You can also set the power button to double click to bring up the camera, if like me you can't get the camera up by attempting to break your wrist, but the torch would be more useful to me....

    I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

    (except air quality and Medical Science ;))

    Did you do

    settings -> gestures

    2) Press & hold power button - set it to actually show the power menu instead of the ###!!!! digital assistant.

    Then when you hold the power button in a large square menu appears in the middle of the screen with power off and restart buttons on it.

    BUT the phone has to be unlocked.

    If it is locked you have to try to simultaneously press and hold the power button and volume up as steviebabes said.

    It takes a few attempts to get it right, I've no idea whether they have to be pressed at the same instant, volume first or power first, as it takes me half a dozen goes to make it happen and I've reached the "WORK! - NOW! - OR ELSE!!!" stage by then :)  (somewhere close to where I get with gesture control!

    On the g9 it is on the left, opposite the power button, right where your thumb goes when you are trying to turn the volume down with a finger..
