If you do change insurers, Quote me happy (online only insurer) have never charged me for changing to a private plate, or back again0

Private plates are incapable of improving a car. They just indicate an owner who is happy to splash the cash. Seems reasonable for an insurer to have some.0

I'm with Esure for my car insurance and just had the misfortune to have to deal with changing my private plate from my old car to my new (used) one.
It proved impossible to actually do this with a human being. I was forced into doing it via their so-called Chat system which even required verification before you could start. The whole process involved three Chat sessions taking something like two hours in total! I finished up paying a £26 admin fee but they did try and make it 2 until I protested and threatened to take them to court. I've had my private plate for more than 20 years and changed cars about five times and never have I had such a long-winded and time consuming experience as I have with Esure.
It's totally ridiculous and I certainly will not be renewing with Esure when my insurance becomes due in April."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock1
