£300 for January
hi, I’m new to this thread, we are a family of 3 adults. I work for a supermarket so I do make use of my staff discount but I do shop around and love Aldi in particular. We didn’t need much for w/c 01.01.24 and have spent £21/£300.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***8 -
Sorted out my baking cupboard and found 3 tins custard powder, 3 opened pkts pasta and 5 tubs of gravy granules! I thought I had stopped over buying and kept closer tabs on things! Obviously not!!! Nothing out of date though as I last cleared it in June. Also lots of random baking bits so next job is to make as many cakes, biscuits etc for DH's sweet treats before he feels the need to head off to the shops!craft stash 2023 =161 items 2024 = £60.00 /£180. 00

Dh and the boys are huge meat eaters and there can't be any spare/leftovers. If we double a meal as it makes 4 and ill double to make 8 they will just Pile it on instead of portions being left for another meal/to freeze.
A 750g mince does us one meal! And DD2 doesn't even eat our meals as she has ASD/ARFID and eats the same meal (waffles, breaded chicken and Yorkshire puddings, luckily all shops own brand as branded have too much flavour) every evening so only 5 of us most days.
I have warned them portion sizes are reducing next week when the budget starts.
(Normally, we have leftovers for lunches the next day, He knows that, if he eats seconds, then he doesn’t get lunch.)

I am away from home until 2nd January 2024 and when I get back I will still be eating as much as possible from the freezer and cupboards. I am hoping to move house in 2024 so the more I use up what I already have indoors the less I have to pack. So my budget for January will be a minimal £60.00. This should be achievable as I made around 16 odd ready meals from batch cooking before Christmas and I have 6 main meal out during January do have at most 8 main meals to cobble together/ buy ingredients for. Apart from fresh fruit and veg I think I should actually (hopefully ) have some cash left over at the end of January Basically the less I buy the better as it will make me use up what I've already got in stock onwards and upwards chums and hopefully less overstocked cupboards and freezer so I can defrost it JackieO xx9
