Definitely drinking plenty of water before a blood test helps. I have found it also helps to be warm.

Humpf, who needs to goggle, when your OH's medical practice sends a text (in works time) saying that the referral is "Urgent", under the pathways protocol…… Gee I wish DH had pushed for a scan months ago…. Although is this a way of getting DH the scan, as they don't have a scooby……..
So, tea is munched. The mozzarella and tomato arancini were "ok", not brilliant, but not yuk either. There were 9 in the box, so we had 3 each. I also made a tomato and cucumber salad - again using the share table cucumbers and a sliver of the red tomato from the MrL box of yore…. I grated a few carrots (this week's green box), washed the last of the bagged lettuce leaves, and cooked up some of the M1n1ons pasta (😁) and ran some red pesto through it. I have a box of arancini remaining, we have eaten all the lettuce, half the pasta packet and we finished off the tomato cucumber salad, that has used up all the 'waste' cucumbers, but there are some of the (bought) cherry tomatoes left.
For pud, I made an apple and pear crumble, using the green apple (granny smith?) from the box the other week, the singular, very odd, large/wobbly/bumped and bashed conference pear and an apple from this week which was in a 'British' apples pack (only 4 rather than….. 5 or 6?), it may have been a gala? Anyway, the pear was delicious. It was absolutely 'en pointe' ripe, it was juicy, fragrant and although the skin looked bashed (I didn't bother peeling it), there wasn't so much as a bruise on the flesh inside. I literally used 98% of the pear - there wasn't much 'core', and I only took off the stem at the top. I put mixed spice and a few oat flakes in the topping - but I'll give you 3 guesses who forgot to put sugar in the topping……. 🙄 However, it didn't have such a negative impact, as the fruit was nice and flavourful, and DH and LG had the remaining 3 (tiny) pots of ambient custard with their crumble. There is one large or 2 small portions of crumble left over, and no custard.
I haven't spent any money today. I did try, but the shoe-pharmacy that my Dr had sent my prescription to, had no knowledge of it…. The individual who served me, could have been the cleaner, the maintenance technician, or Bob who'd stopped by for coffee…. totally 'not boffered' and totally less than helpful. At least I got my steps in walking to the pharmacy, even if i didn't secure treatment. I also signed up to the nhs app. I ended up with it on the phone, as (funnily enough) I couldn't get the computer based version to work……
I used up the last bit of Taco filling on a slice of rye bread for lunch. Mmmm tasty - must keep that recipe, although as I said, the brew-woof seasoning is very good, although if I had to pay proper price for a sachet, i'm not sure I'd have any.
I had the second (small) avocado from Wednesday's green box for breakfast this morning - it was a bit virused or grey - whatever the issue is, but I just trimmed, and again, used as much of it as I could. You would not know from just looking at the fruit it was impaired, so I'm happy to use green box avocados.
Right, can't think of anything else MSE to add, and the footy is about to kick-off. Ta for popping in.

I had to sign up on a pad but once I had I can get it on my computer. It is fine for my doctors but the local hospitals don't use it. At least I don't have to ring up to order my meds any longer & hear there are over 30 in the queue. It was so much easier when I could ring up at midnight & order them on the dedicated line, it was also quicker as they quote 5 days now. Obviously doing it by computer is so much quicker!!

Hi GP I’ve just caught up with your diary, its worrying for you both but good that he will be seen quickly now there’s a referral. I personally find the NHS app very useful for a few things - repeat prescriptions and blood test results, if I need to be seen it pops up quite fast in the app, before I get a phone call anyway. Where I am it doesn’t seem very good for any hospital results but will show appointments booked at least.
Also I wanted to say I’m glad you decided to stay on the MFW board (I had a lot of diary catching up to do 😆) I love reading about you and your family’s lives and adventures on a budget, you are always looking for the best ways to live a good life in the way you want, its inspirational so thank you 😊MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
Good Morning MFW'rs
Lovely spring day with us. Not too sure what to do about washing. I can't do DH's as he's gone into work, wearing the stuff I really need to wash 🙄 I could do LG's stuff - in fact, I just put it on.
I had the last green box avocado on rye toast for for breakfast. It was a large avocado, but the stone was HUGE, and I had to lose some of the flesh to this grey virused thing. A real treat.
LG and I will pootle into town in a bit. I need to move some cash about, and get some more PJ's.
I can't think of anything else MSE at the mo.

Be very careful with that NHS app it is not very truthful. I came out of hospital on Thursday 26th. The app says my blood loss was insignificant despite needing a transfusion & that I was discharged on the 24th.

I don't think it's quite the B-all and end-all that the health service thinks it is. And isn't it like anything else? Garbage in, garbage out…… I have some test results which are actually neither use nor ornament. The one set appear to be inconclusive - why? should they repeat the test? And another test has said I need medication, which is not at the pharmacy……
So we had a lovely walk into and back out of Greying Town. Naturally we bumped into one of the teachers from school 🙄🤣 We've done all the money shuffling. I'm going to be
bravestupid and set April's grocery budget at £200. Whilst stocks (of some things) aren't too bad, I think with 3/4 of a school holiday at the start of the month, and less YS'd/share table gleanings around, I suspect it's not going to be achievable. However, there is the Easter veg 'wars' to look forward to, so it's worth at least having a bash at trying to stick with it.The clothes are drying well, and I rinsed my new PJ's thru and have popped them on the line to dry.
We're going to have bean and veg soup for lunch, with the remaining tortilla chips. DH has just arrived home.
I did buy a bag of marshmallows for 69p. LG wants the option of hot chocolate on holiday. So I will add it to my siggie figgie, even though they won't be used until April.
Right, best go and dish up the soup.

Oh, I forgot to add. We spotted the 8 variety pack of cereals in hB. £1.79……. I thought I was getting a bargain in MrS paying n*ctar price of £2 🙄 Although I don't want it to become a habit, I'll know for (if there is a) "next time" 🙄
The soup has been munched. There wasn't a whole lot of it, I used my (really old) 1kea soup bowls and we all had a similar amount, with no leftovers. Mind, there's been no complaints of "I'm hungry", so it must have been sufficient.
It's still dry here, but with less sunlight, the temperature has fallen ☹️ I won't leave the washing out much longer. It probably will be dry - and the wind is getting gusty. At least it won't be my underwear flying orf into nearby gardens…. 🤣
My n*ctar prices/offers have reset. Just the 3 items from Christmas on this week 🙄 Nothing pricewise that I need, and stuff that I either don't buy, or don't need.
I'm in two minds what to make for tea - pizza or curry. Curry would use up what we have, but we do like pizza….. I don't know what I would do to accompany the pizza, as I have slated fish fingers and chips or wedges for tea tomorrow. Nice problem to have tho.
