One of the tiny humans in my wider family has had their piece [packed lunch] criticised by peers to the point where they stopped eating any of it for a while. Its a bit better now but they were already a 'picky' eater so it doesn't help 😡6

This stuff is brilliant - we currently have it stopping the howling gale along the "closing" side of the front door, and acting as a makeshift seal along the bottom of the shower screen (where it's been, as makeshift things do, for around a year!). Not entirely sure it would work along the bottom although it might well help if applied carefully to take account of floor irregularities.BookWorm said:I have seen a product online that I think may have worked wel for your draught problem. Cheery iirc - you're a Dr - right? Doctors orders must be followed 😉🤣
teapot - that's absolutely pants ☹️ It's a difficult path to tread, as if I was to raise too much of a fuss (I wouldn't), it might encourage scrutiny of lunchboxes, which I wouldn't want - at the moment, I'm pretty sure I don't send LG in with anything that's not permitted (pretty much limited to 'no nuts/nothing in glass jars or bottles), and very, very occasionally, I have been known to send them in with a Jam sandwich. And you know which day 'inspection' would fall 🙄 But I'd be caught out on the odd day I sent LG in with something..... 'less than' balanced, it's very, very interesting to hear what some children eat day in, and day out, and who still have the audacity to lecture others about what they eat. The do and I say, not as I do brigade with possible eating/food issues are the worst at lecturing........
So I ventured out to the shops. I'm afraid I went in the car. It was a toss up between getting me and the shopping soaking wet by walking or getting into a scrum in the car park for spaces by taking the car. As it was, the car parks were busy, but there were spaces, and I parked out of the way.
I must confess to having paid "stupidity" tax - twice, in effect 😟The other day, when I got a new fry pan from MrM, I looked on the label and saw SUITABLE FOR ALL HOB TYPES - picked it out, put it in the trolley and paid my £5. When I used it the other night, I noticed it was scratching my hob 😬I double checked what it said on the website; SUITABLE FOR ALL HOBS except induction....... I thought my hob was halogen, but rather than split hairs, I have stopped using it, before it does serious damage. I saw some frying pans in MrS today, and the 24cm size is just what I want, so I shelled out £18 for one that is suitable for my hob - I read the label very, very carefully......... 🙄
I need to grab my receipt, but spent £12 something in hB - but most was on non-food, but I definitely got apples and some crisps 😱 for LG's lunch tomorrow. I think this is perhaps the first year i've not been able to drop on some keenly priced bAbyb3ls. And yes, I know they are gimmicky, overpackaged etc etc etc, but in our house they were always a 'once in a blue moon' foodstuff, and not an 'everyday' shoved in without any thought item. Anyway, we've no need to worry, as LG ain't got nun - not today, not tomorrow, and probably not at all for the rest of 2025!
Right, I've grabbed my receipts and I'll amend my siggie figgie.

Scratching the hob is nothing to do with suitability for induction. Induction hobs need pans with completely flat steel bases as they use magnets. Copper and aluminium won't work. So your hob may have a ceramic surface with halogen elements under it (if it glows, then it's halogen), and the pan works - the scratches may be due to a fault. If you had an induction hob the pan wouldn't get hot. Probably worth a google.4

It's a halogen hob hun. It does get hot. Now that I've made the mistake, I can see the difference in the pan bottoms. And interestingly a cheapish frying pan in MrS that did say 'not suitable' for definitely Induction, and may well have been halogen too, was the same bottom as the cheap pan I bought. My mistake, I'll own it, and take more care in the future.

Phew, I'm pleased to report that the rolls finally rose/expanded enough on the second prove to put them in the oven. They responded quickly to the heat, and rose again as they cooked, so I think I'll have something worthwhile to use for snap tomorrow! The 3 together were cooked in a 8x8" pan and the roll on the left was put in a.... I think it's probably a 1lb loaf tin. The smell is divine. I used a mix of italian seasoning, onion granules and a bit of M&$ all greek seasoning, plus I soaked a few dried cranberries and threw them in. The flour is bread flour, plain flour and a small dollop of wholemeal. I do wish there was smell-cam, as I'm not bragging, but it smells soooooo savoury and yummy. Will these rolls last 🤣

The roll look lovely.
Our house runs colder than most so dough takes longer to rise, one advantage is the bread is much more flavourful.
When we make rolls we buy them on a baking sheet or a baking tray whichever will fit the whole lot on to save on washing up 😉Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Sorry to hear about your pan, but as greenbee says, induction suitability is nowt to do with scratching, which just sounds like plain old bad workmanship! Can you take it back? Pans shouldn't be scratching your hob!
Those rolls look fab, well done!6
