Good Morning MFW'rs
We're up with the larks - although it's a good job we've DH to roust us out of bed, as I didn't get much sleep last night - worries and night sweats 🥵, and wasn't minded to leave my warm nest ☹️ It's paid dividends though, as brekkie has been munched, snap has been prepped, and LG and I had time to get washed and dressed and wandered to the PO to 'post all the cards' on this, the second day of Advent 😁I know not everyone bothers sending cards anymore, and that's absolutely fine - you do you boo - but I still like to send a few. LG was a great help, and it's a tiny sliver of a tradition that we can enjoy whilst it lasts. If they decide to never send a card of any description in the future, then that's entirely up to them - at the moment they don't mind helping, and I get a great deal of pleasure spending time with my child - even if it's only on a walk to the PO on a cold winter's morning, when we very nearly see far more squirrels than people 😱
Today I fully intend to 'make' something for tea - although it's notionally 'Soup & Pud' day, so I'm not exactly stretching myself!
There are a couple of final little gifts that I want to get for LG and a couple of bits for the stocking - which is looking a bit thin this year. But none of that should, or will, break the bank. Thursday's Advent activity is to compile the shopping list for the FB donation. I have a couple of bits already, that I picked up for a good price, but there is a little budget associated to the task for LG.
A wash is on - not too sure if the breeze will get up to speed today - it's supposed to.
Right, best shift-a-tail-feather.

Well, we've not had the 'I don't want to go to school today', yet. I don't know how to handle it really. The HT thinks that by saying 'Bogside Infants & Juniors has no bullying' or 'We are a community of fabulous children at Bogside' everyone thinks it is. And yet there are daily incidents of physical and verbal violence - against the person, against school property. There is such simmering anger. Of course, that may be the situation in many schools up and down the land, I have no way of comparing.
And it isn't just things that involve LG - it's a general....... 'disruptiveness' I think it's best described as. Some of it has always existed - even when I was at school and we wrote on slates, things that are happening today, happened then, so it's not new. But there were consequences (and I'm not getting into whether those were right, it was just that they were available). I'm not sure what - let's call them solutions, rather than consequences - exist for schools now?

That’s horrible to be in the midst of. I’m glad LG has you as a safe space to return to each day. And yes, that is just wilful ignorance and abdication of responsibility by the HT ….

This will make you all laugh. After whanging on about buying LG a budget "Christmas Jumper" - I don't know if I said it was supposed to play a tune, and/or light up. Anyhoo, with careful unpicking, I have been able to remove the 'bladder' that contains the battery-powered circuit that provides any light/sound. It runs on 3 little button batteries. I have no way of knowing if the batteries are just dead, or the little circuit is. I can't get the right size 1.5v batteries in 'the shops', so i've ordered online. With postage it's over £3....... And it may not work 🙄 Should have just handed LG my credit card from the get-go and let them get something new..... 🤣
I walked into Greying Town, principally to look for the button batteries, but I took the opportunity to have a bit of a head space clear too. I did look in all the chazzers, but there wasn't much different from the other day. I have also ordered a book for LG online. I can't find a copy in a chazzer, so I've gone for a second hand 'very good condition' one, which is still less than half the price of a new copy (delivered). I do now have crackers (for cheese) in the house - which is a very precarious position to be in. Although I like the odd bit of chocolate, I L.O.V.E savoury things! I will be needing to resist temptation BIG TIME 🤣 good lord, I'm a grown woman, should it be this hard????? I need to dig out my receipt, but it will be in the ball park of £3 spent. I also bought batteries and a TV mag, so need to tot that spend up for non-food.
I must get the washing in. I don't think it will have done much. The promised breeze didn't really materialise, and not alot of sun has fallen on the lines. It's suddenly gone very overcast and cold. Once I've got LG home, I could quite easily close the curtains and just roll up under a blankie.
Ta for popping in and for your support. It is super appreciated.

Yes, particularly annoying Sunshine_girl2 - I should have been quicker off the mark to have removed the bladder - LG would have been none-the-wiser. But then neither would I have been able to take it back for a refund, so swings and roundabouts. I think this one is likely to play a little ditty - it certainly won't light up all over. The last one we had from a chazzer lit up (Rudolph's nose), and played Jingle bells - like those cards you can get. Utterly annoying, but it's for one day, and not in my hearing, so......... 👍🤣Sunshine_girl2 said:Hoping LG has a good day today. Christmas jumpers that make noise or light up absurd.
