I’ve already opened the Christmas peanuts GP, they were shouting from the cupboard “we are just the savoury snack you need, one little mouthful won’t hurt, we won’t tell anyone “. They lied.Love 🐞Declutter 134/ 2026

It's so tough when days at school become horrid.
one of my grandkids started secondary school in September. They are a serious, studious, conscientious and eager to please type of child (I'm claiming this is inherited from me 🤣) and so far the vibe at the school is that it's great to have these attributes and it seems that it creates an environment of children who are happy and succeed. The school exam results are exceptional. I have other grandchildren at a different but fairly nearby school and it's not the same there. I suppose that it's about leadership, staff, kids and parents that sometimes come together to create a great school.
i hope things soon settle down for LG and that your worries ease.

Blackcats - the kid who hurt LG yesterday, hurt someone else today..... and so it continues 🙄If LG had confidence, they could do alot better. They are not naturally gifted at academia, but if allowed to concentrate, they do much better, but it sounds like classrooms are just endless disruptive episodes. I think they could really bloom if they attended a school with the ethos like the one your Yr7 grandchild.
So tea has been munched. I went for minestrone soup in the end, made with a gazinty-billion vegetables, some alphabet spaghetti (it's silly, but it's fun 😁), and the YS'd basil tofu i picked up in MrL a couple of weeks ago, that was actually dated until 5th December. It made 3 full bowls, and there was none left. We're having yoghurt for pud.
I still need to grab my receipts and update my figures.
Thanks for popping by. Appreciated.

rt - the alphabet pasta was a bit more 'robust' (m&$) that I needed it to be, but it worked OK, and it's pasta in soup - LG's fave. Plus I got away with shoving some peas in the minestrone, and LG ate them - WIN! 🤣''

Good Morning MFW'rs
Cold start with us, but at least the condensation is the right side of the window this morn!
Whites wash has gone on and been pegged out, another wash is currently churning. I've not much hope of the items drying - not enough breeze, but I'll stick 'em out and see where we get to.
I need to pop out today. I spotted something in Greying Town yesterday, which I thought would be too big - but having read the reviews online, the item fits small, so it might be worth a punt.
DH is getting in a tizzy about work changes and now he's had notification that a pension pot that is in hibernation is ramping up the charges - he probably needs to consolidate the small amount into his main (not much bigger) private pension. Giving employers free-reign to meddle with company pensions has been a nightmare with auto-enrolment. A former employer chopped and changed pension providers each time they needed to borrow more money for their mad-cap schemes. Thank goodness DH opted out early on in the merry-g0-round and only has 2 silly policies from this time.
Right, I need to shift a tail feather. I have updated my siggie figgies from yesterday's expenditure.

MrEH threw a wash on the line for half the day yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by how well it dried in spite of the ground being wet and the sunny portion of the day being the time when the sun doesn't actually hit the line, so you may be OK.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Fingers crossed EH - the air temp is a little better today, so we might get some help from Mother Nature.
Well, I am pleased to report - that the item I was after (I think I forgot to mention it was for LG) was still sitting on the shelf in M&$, so I picked them up. They are OOS online, so I can't get the actual size I need, but if they do run small, then there's a chance they will fit. CHB picked up the tab, and LG will have to have them now a) because they are needed and b) because if they in any way shape or form fit, or nearly fit, then I'm not going to be able to prize them out of LG's hot little mitts to wrap up for Chrimbo anyway! 🤣
I also picked up a reduced price (to £1) bottle of iced coffee milkshake. Jury's out on that - I think it tastes like if you've got the dregs of the office coffeepot, or if you've microwaved the last of the cafe press contents after last night's dinner party. Which I'm sure ain't the review they were after. LG will like to have a taste of it - I'm not sure it will float their boat though. Cheaper than a latte tho, so silver linings!
I also bought some apples and broth mix in hB, so I need to add £2.89 in total to my grocery spends.
I forgot to say that (school) Christmas lunch was mentioned yesterday, and LG asked what the veggie option was. I though oooohh, maybe they want to have the (cooked) lunch, but when they were told what it was (qu0rn filet), they said, "oh, I don't want that - I can have my quOrn festive roll you make me, can't I mum?" 🤣 Thought I was going to get off the hook, scot free for a £2.75 investment (or whatever the meals cost these days) then! Funnily enough I was contemplating getting some YS'd (in M&$) green olive ciabatta rolls today. They were still quite expensive, but I thought they would be a bit different for the school Christmas Dinner packed lunch. I didn't bother in the end though, as I don't think LG likes green olives as well as they do black olives, and I don't actually know how good ciabatta is cold? Am I overthinking this? In looking to check they could be frozen, I noticed the cooking instructions, so I left them on the shelf. But what it did make me think to do, is to make some festive bread for the christmas lunch. I could always buy baps/rolls as a back up, just in case it doesn't work. My dough work is limited pretty much to pizza these days, but i have made bread before, and baps have always worked better than a whole loaf. Food for thought, anyway.
Right, better get on. I'm going to adjust my siggie figgie and then pop across to MrM, as they have a couple of things lower priced than MrS, and I'll pop by FF as I'm that side of town. See if they've anything bargainacious.

How about a black olive foccacia for the christmas lunch thing Greying? I'm intending to play about with some recipes for bread for christmas day tea - although my thinking is currently leaning more towards brie and bacon...! (Neither Mum nor MrEH like olives at all, so there would definitely be no sense in me making anything with olives in!)🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
