Sorry to hear DH's infection has spread. I hope this ENT appointment makes a big difference and is able to put a treatment plan in place so it is dealt with full and quickly. I think he should to the rest of the off to help his recovery.
I would do the radiator dance too, if we had radiators, we have underfloor heating through out, so airer and dehumidifier which later in the year will be supplemented with UFH.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Oh Greying, poor DH, and it could all have been made so much better if just the right prescription had been forthcoming in the first place! Hopefully the appointment today will get everything sorted and he’ll be much better after a few days rest. (And yes, REST he must - only way of getting shot of a nasty infection!)
Radiator drying is done here too - I mean not when I can get things on the line to get them even mostly dry, but otherwise. I’ve a radiator airer (one of those that clips over) in the spare room - and that usually gets socks and undies on it to save them taking up space bigger stuff could make use of on the main airer - then the main airer sits in front of the radiator too. I can’t see the sense in not doing so, quite honestly - it’s much the same effect as a heated airer, but without the extra cost of buying one, plus the running costs!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Poor DH but at least a specialist appointment has been made quickly. Perhaps the fact that it's a hospital visit will encourage your DH that he is poorly enough to take some time away from work to recover. Perhaps he will be given a fit note anyway which might "compel" him to refrain from work.

Sorry GP - I did mean to sympathise about DH too. As Blackcats says, maybe the hospital doctor will get through to him that rest is needed.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Right, we're back.
Thank you for all your well wishes - that is super kind of you all.
Yes, I heartily agree that DH was lucky to get an appt so quickly. And you can also bet that I'm incredibly grateful that we had the where withal to get to the appt in the town across the way. It would have been virtually impossible by public transport. And, as a less fact - but one I'm still grateful for, is that I was able to support DH and drive. He might have been OK going, but is in no fit state now, so would have been a potential hazard. And given on our return journey we saw something that may well have been a medical emergency on the by-pass, well, I'm just grateful I was able to support is all - and I hope everything is alright with the car we saw - the ambulance was in attendance.
So, having been seen by specialists, they too concur and feel that DH should have had the 'second medicine' first, as conventional anti-b's couldn't touch the source of inflammation. But I still feel that DH was lucky to get access to the out of hours service. By definition they are GP's operating it, and what they prescribed could have worked. It was lucky that the Dr DH saw last night was either more experienced by dint of career expanse, or was perhaps just interested in head and neck medicine.
However, because DH was at the specialist unit today, they were able to do a 'deep dive' - literally, and get the discharge removed, so that at least now, the drops (of which they approved - I'm so glad I reminded DH to take them with him.....) can actually begin to work. I don't know if it's the rooting around, of just the inflammation has progressed, but DH is feeling v. sorry for himself and the pain has increased.
Whilst DH was at his appt. I went off to the big MrT. I picked up some clothing for LG - all unbranded, conventional 'kicking about' stuff. I (against my better judgement, I don't like purchasing plastic 'crap'), bought a mask for LG for halloween. Club are throwing a party, but I refuse to buy a costume, as we don't celebrate halloween, and it's a waste of money. However, we have used face paints in the past - and LG agreed to have that again. Anyway, I spotted a spooky facemask for £3 in MrT, and there were 3 designs (as you know I had to rootle through them all!). Face paints were £2.25 - and even if I'd gone to £ land, they wouldn't have been much cheaper - I seem to recall paying around £2 for everything last time - plus extra for make up removal stuff. So I figured, LG will like these masks, they can be paired with conventional clothing, and still appear 'spooky', so I bought one. I have now hidden it, as otherwise it will be broken before it is needed. LG is apt to fiddle, fiddle and fiddle some more! I also got some YS'd baps - white rather than wholemeal, unfortunately, but they'll be useful. I also got some chickpeas from the CC promo.
I then went to hB, and got some apples and other bits.
DH hadn't messaged, so I returned back to a nearby market town - which the sat nav took us through this morning, so I knew I could get to the hospital from there - and popped into MrM. I managed to find the YS'd fruit and veg, and they'd reduced stuff to good prices (unlike MrT, who'd done the 'tuppence off' mularkey 🙄). I got a total of 930g (I think) of mushrooms for 91p, some blueberries for 75p, and some broccoli (still green!) for 30p. I was tempted by some strawberries, they were 88p and did at least smell ripe, but then DH messaged, so I had to pay and get back to the hospital.
I will tot up the food spends, and take it off my grocery total, but I was quite pleased with my haul - particularly in MrM, as I don't frequent that supermercado that often.
DH has no intention of returning to work this afternoon, I'm going to be putting my foot down about when he does return, but here's hoping he gives the medicine time to start working at least. He has a follow-up appt at the clinic in 7 days time.
Right, better go and do summat for lunch. I may well dive into the baps - sometimes, it has to be white, right?
Thanks again everyone, your concern and support is just so, so appreciated by me - and DH if he knew we were talking about him 🤭 But thanks for keeping me sane, allowing me to vent 🫤
