baileys_babe - no, DH will get his prescription, as the pharmacy is very close to his workplace. Fingers crossed it's in stock. He's a good bloke, kind and good natured. I wish he would look after himself a bit better - a day or two off doesn't signify the slippery slope into persistent absenteeism. I believe the vast majority of his colleagues would stay off work for less medically significant symptoms ☹️ as they have done.
I'm throwing in the towel, and setting up the airer and dehu and I'll put it on for a couple of hours and see where we've got to then. Our weather isn't performing to script. The trees and bushes have stopped moving at all now - at least there was a slight sway earlier, and if anything the mist has thickened - although I wouldn't call it foggy, it is just slightly denser mist. But the overall effect is an ever 'stiller' day than I thought it would be - and was forecast. Nowts going to be any drier set out on the line, so I'll suck it up and try to get this load something like dry. We'll be in a reasonable place clothes-wise then.

Another vote for a tumble dryer even if it’s just for a few years. I had one when DS was at home. Amazing what you can pick up for nothing on FB local pages. Also wishing your DH had not gone to work. I hope Mr GP prioritises getting his prescription and starts taking the antibiotics as soon as 🤗

Apologies KajiKita - I missed your follow-up post. But what is this 'iron' of which you speak????? 🤣
You make valid points, and you're right, it doesn't have to be all or nothing - as and when is useful too, and assisting with drying is useful, as well as bone dry to wear "now" 😁 I have to say, I wouldn't 'not' use a TD on DH's workwear, and I couldn't care less if the TD 'aged' work clothes. DH's work supply minimal kit, it's not of the tippy-toppy-most quality (although is, to be fair 'OK'), and they don't pay any contribution to laundry costs. So they don't get any say in the matter 😁 I have reminded DH about the tax allowance, and he should claim it, but as I've possibly mentioned before, it wouldn't make that much difference to using a TD or the Dehu more. But, he should claim it. I suspect all his colleagues have it all set up.
I'll commit to look into it again with him - it's not alot of money, but it's better than a poke in the eye, and he should be claiming it.

He definitely should claim that allowance, that is what it is there for.Confession time here - everything goes in the tumble drier, as long as you stop it before things actually dry they have never been damaged. It just shows how things have changed though as LG got antibios for scarlet fever, I got the isolation hospital. Don't feel sorry for me I loved it. All my school friends were in a ward together but I had measles too so in full isolation. I wasn't quite 4 & the nurses did jigsaws etc with me & let me read to them. Back then they allowed teachers children to start school at 3 & by then I could already read. Pity it all went downhill from 11.4

Sorry to hear DH has gone to work greying. Hope it doesn't prolong his illness. Mr Cheery is quite the opposite - he also has a cold and has taken up residence on the sofa, and I am peeling him grapes. Well, not quite, but he's not exactly exerting himself in the household chores stakes. So far I haven't got it myself but I am staying as far away as possible!4

Oh and I meant to say, you are a washing queen - I've said elsewhere i completely forgot about mine today and it's now spending a second night on the washing line 🙈5

Another vote for the tumble drier. I bought mine when PPH and I first moved into the cottage as so much work was going on (extension) and I had no kitchen. I went to the laundrette to do washing and then used the tumble driers. This struck me as such a waste to time as it was a fair drive then I had to sit there for what seemed ages so I bought the tumble drier and installed it in an outhouse (the horses feed room).
These days it mostly gets used for finishing off towels and items that are not really dry. I'm not sure it really contributes that much to the energy bills as it does not get used often but is so valuable when it does.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
Poor GP ... but just to add to this... in this part of the world there are frequently TDs available cheap/free on FB marketplace when people upgrade. If it was something you kept in a shed an only used very infrequently then a cheap 'conventional' TD might be worth it to get stuff processed faster and out of your living space. But only if you have somewhere to put it!
I got rid of the old TD from here and my own old one through marketplace - I've now got a heatpump model which was more expensive, but works for me as it integrates well with solar and batteries. However, if you're an infrequent user I'd say it probably wasn't worth it. I think your dehumidifier was a wise investment, and the fact that it helps with laundry is a bonus. But if the issue with laundry in the house gets too much, don't rule out a TD!4 -
Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to reading what kitchen magic GP is up to today and what we might get to give names to (I'm still smiling at the idea of Shrek Soup
).
