60 mph gales here. Rescued a neighbour's dustbin from middle of road first thing. I waited till I heard bin lorry approaching before I took my bin out, then held on to it until lorry stopped at my house before letting go. I found one of my plants rolling around in the road, minus it's pot. Goodness where that's ended up!

I'm currently wondering how many of my apples will end up on the neighbour's plastic grass due to the winds? I watched the Mr. use them to practice his best chucker impersonation straight back into my garden, where they split into pieces that I now have to clean up!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Gosh your neighbour is very annoying @rtandon27
I wasn't going to put any washing on because of the rain forecast, but I got all caught up with you lot talking about it this morning and ended up putting a load in. It's very windy, but also p*ssing down, so it's going to have to be inside with the dehumidifier on 🙄 It can stay in the machine til I've finished work 🙄4 -

Good Morning MFW'rs
badmemory - we were very lucky, and I think that the volunteers were all really keen to impart their knowledge, and have as many folk as possible learn the history of the site. The one volunteer was known to take a really 'in depth' approach - there was probably very little they didn't know, but the volunteer we had knew a ton more than we did, and was really 'people orientated', and certainly had a very good, encouraging, never patronising, way - with us all really - but certainly with LG.
kayannie - well done you for rescuing your neighbours bin. I always fear windy days on the recycling day, More 'stuff' ends up over the housing estate than ever goes on the wagon.
rt - aren't those neighbours nicking your produce half the time? They do sound extraordinarily annoying - and it's amazing how wearing horrible neighbours can be.
cheery - I thought I had missed an opportunity not doing a wash, and although we had far less rain that was forecast, the several bursts we did have were heavy, and would have soaked the clothes in a nano-second ☹️ I'm not looking forward to the return of airers in front of the dehu on washing day ☹️
So a breezy start with us, but at least we've no rain forecast, so I've done 2 wash loads, "everyday" clothes and the towels and bathmat. The washing line is full, and I hope that everything can come in the best part dry.
Tea last night was a mish-mash as LG has gone down with the sniffles, so they had pasta and HM tommie sauce. DH and I had mung bean curry, the last of the mango dhal and a bit of rice from the freezer. I also stirred the last bit of Saturday's lentil soup into the dhal to use it up.
I'm noticing how empty the veg drawer and the fruit bowl is getting. We've been spoilt with recent bounty from MrL boxes. I will have to use the pears that we got from the honesty box at the NT property we visited in the last week of the summer hols. 2 will probably need to incorporated in cake/pud, and 2 probably are good to eat now. We've finally run out of eating apples, but I see that DH has resorted to using the g0lden delic1ous that I got in a MrL box several weeks ago 😱 I'd been keeping them for making crumble, and then we got gifted a ton of cookers on holiday. They'd slowly been going wrinkly on the side..... I was still going to use them for puree/a crumble. Don't think I'll bother now. I don't like GD apples, but if DH is willing to use them in morning porridge, then I'm not going to argue 😁 I shall transfer them to the fruitbowl, in anticipation of them getting used.
I need to cook up the 3 'raw' beetroot I got from the MrL box on holidays, so they can be used - either for a curry, or to embellish a cheese sanger 🥰 either way.
Not too sure what is for tea, but i'd be best to crack on and prep something, either in the SC, or to be re-heated. LG's homework is a right fandango, and a lot of work at the best of times. They are feeling off kilter, so it is taking even longer for them to do it. Thank goodness we got the maths homework out of the way on Saturday 🙄
Today should be a nsd.
Ta for popping in and having a convo. Love it.

So in the end I decided to do a spiced, steamed pear pudding. I was going to make a baked sponge pudding (recipe is actually for apple, but pears work). Anyway, it occurred to me that I could make the steamed pud in the SC, rather than put the oven on. I also made a vat of tommie sauce in the PrC. I only had one carrot left to lob in, so went heavier on the chopped peppers. I also cooked up a saucepan of green lentils. I made lentil bolognese for all of us for tea (bit samey for LG, but they are still feeling under par, so it was a choice that would at least be eaten). There was a portion of bolognese left over and a portion of cooked pasta. I also had 2 punnets of green lentils and 3 punnets of tommie sauce for the freezer.
The steamed pudding was paired with ice-cream, by request, and was munched appreciatively. I used the 2 'hard' pears from the ones I picked up from a NT property. It was the best thing to do with them - they were taking forever to ripen, however, cooking them worked wonders. There is enough pudding left for at least 2 portions tomorrow - might have to be with yoghurt though. Of the 2 other pears I have left, I ate one today - really scrummy, and the other one will be munched as is.
Don't think i did anything spiffily moneysaving today, but sometimes it's the little things, on repeat, isn't it?
Ta for stopping by. Appreciated.
