rt sometimes my pair are too wedded to 'we always do, what we always do', and can't see that having a big brekkie or brunch, would mean we wouldn't be as reliant on having "lunch at lunchtime!" 🙄 And whilst I applaud DH for having a low-cost, filling breakfast each day, and for introducing LG to it, sometimes I could appreciate a bit of flexibility 🤣 I shouldn't moan really, as DH and LG have both embraced picnic lunches on days out, and snap pails for work/school. They rarely if ever mention eating out - I think the only thing they have enjoyed 'out' is an ice-cream, and even LG has, on some occasions suggested a supermarket ice-cream over a mr wh1ppy, because of costs.
I forgot to say that the wraps were a hit for tea last night. I especially liked the 'dirty-ish' rice, which was nice and flavourful. Purely by luck, I got the ratio of tommie sauce to rice, about right, and the splodge of Gochujang and sprinkle of chip seasoning, and a sprinkle of parsley made it very tasty. There was shredded romaine lettuce and carrots to up the vegetable quotient, and a garlicky mayo yoghurt dressing to accompany the qu0rn nuggets. The wraps were wholemeal courtesy of MrL.
I've put the washing in the sunniest/windiest part of the garden, so fingers crossed it will dry to some point, as the computer models have rain incoming ☹️ I did spot a tiny toad in the garden as I was pegging out, and at least LG got to see it too 🥰 It may have been the one DH had to relocate when he was doing some tidying, a couple of weeks ago - it looked bigger, but still a young 'un. It still amazes me we get toads in the garden with no obvious water source nearby.

I just happened to notice on the beebeecee news site that they have a load of cooking 'shorts', exploring viral social media food/cooking trends. The recipe developer from beebeecee f00d had tried them out/done short cuts, checked the nutrition of ticky tocky trending food etc.
The recipes are 'made' in the short video, but if it floats your boat, you can find all the actual recipes on their GF site. There are a couple of recipes that might float people's boats on here. I was going to ask if anyone knew if the 'high protein ricotta wrap' could be made and then eaten 'later', but then I've noticed in the recipe it says 'serve immediately'. Has anyone had a go at making these wraps? (I think the SM trending version used cottage cheese over ricotta). I'm just wondering if they would go rubbery if they were allowed to cool?
Well, the rubbish weather has arrived earlier than forecast, but tbh, because of the forecast I kept one eye on the skies, and luckily noticed the cloud building and the rain curtain coming in, so I managed to get the washing in before the rain started. It's not bone dry, but it's drier than I thought I would get it today, so I'm glad I tried. There will only be slightly damp clothes in the house - not dripping. I'll take the wins where I can get them.
It is now, officially soup weather! DH and LG have gone for a pootle to the municipal tip, so I best crack on and rustle up a pan whilst they're out. I'm thinking lentil, vegetable and chipotle.......

@Greying_Pilgrim - I just had a look at that ricotta wrap recipe - it reminds me of a cheese frittata - can't fathom why it wouldn't keep for a few hours, but perhaps like a fritttata it just tastes best fresh? - In the short she does say let cool completely before using so surely that's the better part of an hour there?4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Thanks rt. I agree with you, I think it would be a prepare and eat - within a relatively small window of time. I should have mentioned my ponderment was centered around whether it could be made - for example - the evening before and eaten as a 'breakfast on the go'. I find when we go 'on holiday', if it's a early start, and we eat breakfast on the go, it tends to be a bread/wheat heavy day. IE sausage baps for brekkie, followed by sandwiches for lunch - then maybe a pasta tea (more likely if staying in a PI). I was just wondering whether the ricotta wraps would change up the consumption picture, whilst still filling us up. Besides, it would probably be too much faff, but it was just a thought, when I saw them being made.

            Good Morning MFW'rs
Trip out to the heritage event yesterday was absolutely marvellous! The only downside (and it's a laughable 1st world prob), was that the parking was in a field that a whole lot of very big, and very well fed cows must have been in, about 5 minutes before..........
But yet again, I get to sing the praises of volunteers who give up their time to not only learn about their chosen specialised subject, but also time on a weekend to 'open the gates', 'welcome the crowd', 'switch on the tea urn' and take the lid off the biscuit tin 😉 Whilst LG was the only kiddo on the tour, the guides included LG at every turn, and I must admit, it was one of those places/organisations that encourages you to look, touch, pick up, ask questions, join in etc. I hadn't let LG know we were going, just in case they "thought" they wouldn't like it, but they had a ball, and said at the end of the tour that they'd really enjoyed the tour, and thanks for booking us on it, mum 🥰
The weather forecast was right yesterday and the weather deteriorated to really dreich by the early afternoon. Thankfully, we had completed the majority of the tour before the heavens really opened, and we had dressed accordingly anyway. We did end up having an 'in car' picnic, as although there was a nice spot at the venue; the site, and parking, was only open for the duration of the tour, so we would have got ourselves 'locked in'.
We got home in time to see the WRWC - the England vs Scotland match. All the matches I have watched, the teams play their hearts out until the final whistle. And whilst it didn't affect the result, who could deny that Scotland deserved their try, just before the whistle blew.
Tea was fish fingers, oven chips and mushy peas.
Doing holiday 'activity' research, I have come up with the realisation that if we wanted to go to at least 3 of the museum/attraction type places that I've listed, well then we'd need nearly £150 for that alone 🫤 on top of the cost of the accommodation 🫤 If we ditch the attractions (available on a 'joint' ticket), that I favour, well then the bill comes to just under £100 - and still leaves a couple of attractions that will float DH & LG's boat. It struck me yesterday that I needed to heed Vintage Historian's previous advice for the summer hols and consult the wicky list of museums by county........ gosh, now I have so much choice 🤣 I will need to look through properly and work out distance from our accommodation location, entrance fees, parking fees etc - as well as taking into consideration the interest the attraction/museum could hold for us all. On first glance (and I stress it was only a glance), it seems there are marginally less 'run by volunteers on a shoestring/slightly left-field subject' type places, and rather more 'polished, charidee, slickly marketed places'. However, a couple of EH places were highlighted, that hadn't jumped out at me before, so at least we're starting to get a mix of 'paid' and 'free' options. Again, nothing has to be set in stone, nor scheduled to within every available minute, but I need to get a handle on how we could fill our time, without breaking the bank, but with maximising fun/enjoyment/family time/relaxation etc.
Right, better crack on. I had wondered whether I had missed a trick with doing some washing today, as we've not had the forecast rain, however, a really, really big gust of wind blew all around the house, rattling everything. Me smalls will be in the next county over, if I dared peg out 🤣 So I think Mother Nature has just made the decision for me.

I suspect that having LG on that "tour" made their day & they enjoyed showing them things.6

The gusts were gale-force this morning when I shifted a load of t-shirts and jeans from inside drying to the summer house. I don't trust OH to keep an eye on pegged laundry while I'm in the office so let's hope they get halfway dry without the dehumidifier going!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Definitely far too windy to put washing on the line here! I've had to put some garden furniture away, and a dog bed that has been rained on and is very heavy has been blown several feet. Sadly it's too heavy to put on the line (and too big to go in the WM and dryer) otherwise this would solve the problem of how to wash it, and avoid it being binned.5
