Good morning MFW'rs
Right, I've dun me 'omework, set by Vintage Historian 😉 I've looked up the opening times etc of the 2 mini-micro museums in the teeny-weeney Market Town across the way. One is only open on the weekends (understandable, run entirely by volunteers), and the other one is only open on certain days, BUT is open one day a week during school holidays. As that is the one that would hold much more interest for LG we can build an outing around that!
Also, you've prompted me to look out the opening times for another mini-micro museum that is in another speck of a town, not overly far from here. We normally pootle out there to take a picnic and explore the caste ruins (there are blackberries to pick too), but if we timed our visit, there would be another 'hook'.
I don't want museums overload, but sometimes these places that are run by enthusiastic volunteers are so rewarding to visit. And if they're dry, dusty and boring, so what - we can still enjoy our picnic and a wander around somewhere different, can't we? 😁

GP there are cells and I would have shared a photo but my DGD seems to be posing on them all 😂.Can you get public transport to any of the places you have on your list . For my DGC that’s part of the adventure. Of course we are only about 6 miles from a big city so transport is easy to find . I get the eldest two to research how we get there on said public transport .Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.4

@Greying_Pilgrim - hunny your summer with baba sounds like good fun! If we were closer I'd tag along to the museums!
You've prompted me to look up our own darling little museum which is but a stones throw from our home. Looks like they have opened up a little tea room this summer so may just have to pop in with laptop in tow to enjoy a cuppa and the a/c for an hour this afternoon hen the heat happens!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Thanks beanie - our library does too. A theme is picked and whilst I suppose different genres are presented within that theme, the book choices are a bit....... i dunno, lack appeal somehow - BUT certainly one of the authors represented in the library reading challenge is on Blackcats list and we one of their books, so the author will be explored. It's a pity that the school don't seem to liaise with the library more, perhaps raise the profile of the challenge, make kiddos want to do it. Reading would benefit.

Just a thought GP - could you ask your friendly neighbourhood librarian to reach out to the school instead? - I suggest this as one of my dear friends is the head librarian at a local town library and does exactly this to the three schools in her catchment area & also has another reachout programme for the two seniors homes in her vicinity.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! rt - that's certainly an idea. I'm not sure (because I literally don't know), if the Library service has to charge for any interaction with schools now. I suspect that had resources been freely available, then there would be a connection made - but I could be wrong.
I have been shopping and spent £17.46. Food and one bottle of wine. There were no boxes in MrL, and very few YS'd things, and nothing that I needed.

Delurking to mention Treasure trails as another possibility for a cheap holiday activity. If you Google them, they have them in many towns/cities all over the UK. We did one a couple of years ago and my ds loved it. A great way to do a walk but with a bit of interest, learn things you didn't know about the area and also a bit of reading etc thrown in too! I think from memory it was about £10 (may have been an offer)5

@Greying_Pilgrim - My OH just piped up with geocaching as a way to introduce LG to apps & creative thinking and also have very FREE entertainment! I've done a few with him here in the UK and can say that the kid in me enjoys every minute! I've also cursed him for taking me into a mosquito infested woods across the pond, but did get to prove to him why deet is imperative in the wilds of the great north 😉4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
