Good evening MFW'rs
kayannie! Great to see you are ok. I should have added northwalesd to the concern list - but then, I don't always like to assume that people that folks use their place of home in their username. Forgive me for the overthinking, that may have led to an oversight of anyone.
We were very lucky here, and whilst we had winds - and several gusts that must have been somewhat similar to the fence panel removing gusts seen in Storm Darragh, we escaped relatively unscathed. Although DH reported that at another of their sites a work colleague had a lucky escape in a 'human v flying debris' scenario - where a trip to A&E ensued........ 😱
No cash spent today - so that's good.
I could have/should have got a wash on the line - I noticed this afternoon that the neighbour had a line of washing out 😟 Definitely missed an opportunity, it would have either dried, or been found 3 estates along......
Tea was burger baps and chips using the Ys'd to 25p baps i got from hB the other day. I also made a pear crumble using the last of the YS'd pears that i bought from m&$ and froze in October. At least the oven was full for the cooking time.

Thanks for the concern GP, we were fine, but it was very windy - though definitely not as bad as storm Darragh (here at least). I did get out for a walk, blown about a little but all OK. I did come across a fallen tree across a nearby footpath (a very well used, tarmac one through a wooded area) so I've reported that to the council.
You wouldn't have put out washing here, well not if you ever wanted to see it again 😁3 -
I was a washing out person today - pegged using Hebridean principles (and for that reason the socks stayed indoors as you really can’t use multiple pegging on those, and nothing goes out in such a stiff breeze with only a single point of failure!) I was glad I had chanced it as the rain held off and the clothes came in almost dry - and none of my knicks ended up with the neighbours! 😂

Thanks for thinking of me. We were fortunate to remain unscathed by the wind and without upset to power or water. Not bad for an 118 year old house. Others a short distance away were not so lucky.

Good Afternoon MFW'rs
Washing is doing well. DH was persuaded to put up a third washing line for me (will only be able to take light items), this morning. I had to supervise, and encourage, as I was met with the 'little train who couldn't... (work out how to make a secure fixing)', so with the aid of a step ladder (to get a good view of the issue, and give leverage), and holding onto the other end - we got the job done 👍 DH is right in that I don't have a spare line prop for this line, and it would definitely help. This area gets sun for the 'longest' in the winter, so it's worth doing - although it gets the least breeze too, so it's not a total solution to getting clothes dry in the winter, but it does mean I can get 2 decent sized loads out on the line at once.
DH popped out on errands this morning, and took their 'right-hand helper' too. So that was a nice adventure for them both.
I made tomato soup for lunch. Just the right amount (by fluke) for 3 bowlfuls. I did my usual thing of shoving in as many veggies in as I could, boiled them up with 2 tins of chopped tommies and some stock (and a tsp of sugar) in the PC, blitzed and served.
It's been a lovely day weatherwise. I think I need to get out for a quick walk. Doesn't need to be miles, but just out and moving I think.
Tea tonight will most likely be curry, dhal and rice.
I'm so glad that folks have managed to stay safe in the storm. Some of the footage of trees toppling and random roofing sheets flying off is quite horrifying. For sure we had only a 'mild' storm here, but I do think on several occasions we did have awfully powerful gusts - the 'sound' of the wind changed, and it was the same sound we heard when Storm Darragh was raging. Although with Darragh, the wind strength was stronger (consistently) over a longer period of time. But with gusts, you have no warning, and they can just wreak such devastation, can't they.
I do need to update my non-food spends as DH & LG selected and purchased a birthday card for a younger member of the family whilst out and about. I have repaid DH, but just need to update my records.
Other than that, it's a NSD. Can't think of anything else MSE, so will shuffle orf for my walk.
Ta for dropping in. Always nice to have visitors.

We had heavy rain last night but the bonus is that it washed the sand off our windows! We've got a beautiful day today, 2 loads of washing are flapping on the line & I'm just recovering from a longish walk to beach (downhill) & back (uphill).

So walk done ✅ Washing brought in ✅
Walk was approximately 42 mins, and I covered 2.64mls. If my maths is correct, that's slightly under 4mph, which I wasn't aiming for, but I'll take, as it wasn't onerous (although some inclines to tackle), and I was aiming for something like a half hour walk OR 2 miles.
Got back to the house to get the washing in - I tend to aim for around 3pm in the winter, much later and the dropping temperatures undo all the hard won work of any breeze/sun. I was very pleased with how 'dry' the clothes were. Not bone dry, but good enough to pop on the airer with the usual suspects of collars and waistbands still being touch damp. At least I now have enough items for the 'uniformed duo' for Monday - which was my aim. There is supposed to be a reasonable drying window available tomorrow morning, so I intend to get my act together and do a load of towels, ready to peg out as early as I can.
Off to make curry and dhal now. The curry will feature BNS - although I will try to sort through the pieces to weed out any seeds. Want to encourage LG to eat BNS, not discourage them.
**EDIT** - Totally forgot to add that I realise it's 'Burns Night' tonight, but I haven't prepped any of the veggie haggis and so will give it a pass for this year. I am sure there will be other occasions to have a similar dish. Lack of planning on my part, totally.
Thanks as ever, for your support. Appreciated.

Happy Saturday GP - saw this recipe for swede and potato fritters and thought of you! - They remind me of latkes - my mom gave me a recipe, when I was learning to cook in uni, for parsnip and potato latkes and these are very similar.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Good morning MFW'rs
Thanks for the recipe rt - I checked, and I have a recipe for swede fritters, incorporating potato, but they are not like the recipe you've posted. Thank you.
I have pegged out the towels I washed, and there was a nice breeze, but the weather forecast has changed, and whilst the BeeBeeCee has the rain starting an hour earlier this morning than forecast yesterday, the computer says it is raining now, and set to get heavier imminently 😟 I can't actually see out from where I am, so will check just now. But it's not looking good. Ho hum.
Veg curry last night was totally made up as I went along - but I was pleased to get something tasty that didn't involve tomatoes, as we'd had HM tommie soup for lunch. I suppose technically it was a BNS, potato and spinach. I used up the last of the spinach - which was slightly more than needed, but did turn the curry into looking more like a 'Saag' - which is no bad thing, although LG was a bit sniffy/pokey at it. But it did all get eaten - served with lentil dhal and rice. There was some dhal and some veg curry left over for another day/curry plate.
Interestingly I picked out 3 seeds from the BNS and used about half a packet. Processing your own BNS does have distinct advantages - as the seeds in the frozen product do seem awfully hard (even when defrosted/cooked). I know you can eat the kernels, but the casing is too tough. I suppose now I know what the MrS product is like, I can take extra care with using it in recipes.
Lunch will definitely be soup today. I will try and get a quick walk in - best go prepared to get damp.
No major spending online or in person scheduled for today, so hopefully that can remain so.
Right, nothing more MSE to report, so best shuffle orf - literally 😁

Phew, back in from a walk, the rain came about 3/4 of the way round and I've lost at laundry roulette - DH did get the washing in, but had been reading, so I'm not sure how long it had been out in the rain plus it wasn't very dry anyway 😟 However, I won at the exercise lottery as a) LG came with me! and b) we explored the path that I had seen earlier in the week during my walk to MrL, and........ the path DOES lead to an UNDERPASS beneath the railway, so it does provide a safe, off-road path that links up the retail park to MrL 😁 And beyond MrL there are further cycleways, so more cycling options have been created 😁 The underpass isn't too 'long' and you can see each end clearly, so can avoid mowing down pedestrians, or have anyone lurking ahead of you. The path is quite clearly used by dog walkers........ but it's an option at least. LG was actually thrilled to have discovered something new, and it was a pleasant walk altogether - and there was no moaning from LG when the rain started (colour me amazed). We walked just over 4.5miles. I didn't see what time we started out, and walking with LG is definitely slower, but the time together was priceless, so we'll just take it as moderate (enjoyable) exercise - beat being in a gym, anyway (I don't like gym based exercise - apologies to those that do).
