Oh yes I didn't mean it to sound as if that was what I was saying generally, I hope I didn't cause any offence. I lost a friend during lock down who was only 38 so age really is irrelevant and that has definitely helped in my seeing ageing as a privilege. I'm only 41 but I do sometimes feel as if life is zipping by3

Morning ladies! - a flying visit as I'm technically back at work today!
...but oh how I want to join you in conversation!...
Two small paragraphs...
YES YES YES to having a plan & a will & a power of attorney - if it wasn't for mine, OH would not have been able to say 'don't pull the plug' two years ago and I'd not be here today! It's been a hard slog with physio & chiro & neuro and there are days I curse him for the decision, but all in all I was happy it was him, my partner of 20 years, and not some moronic doctor or nurse barely out of nappies making the decision!
In general, commenting about another's parenting choices is well out of turn! For many years I was asked why I didn't have any children - an incredibly painful subject and very private. - Now as I'm starting to grey and approaching the end of my working life, I hear equally inappropriate comments about 'choosing' career over family. Everyone has an opinion on everyone else's life! Just be you & celebrate your own accomplishments without comparison!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I think I need to clarify that I wasn't saying 'aging parents' to discuss the age that you choose to have a child, I was using it in conjunction with my own parents ages. It was probably a poor choice of words but I would hate for anyone to think I was judging a person's decision to have a child and at what age. I do not hold such views5

@FrugalHedonist - Oh FH - I certainly did not intend for you to feel that from my comments - I for one am so very glad that you brought up the topic in such a friendly & inviting space (GP's virtual kitchen) - in RL I find that comments about age and choices can be quite judgey and invasive but here all the ladies share their opinions openly and honestly!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Another one with comments from others about childlessness.... the best was from my neighbour several years ago when she asked when I was going to have a baby right in the middle of the local Coop. She worked there - we were/still are on friendly chat terms, but not the sort of terms where it's appropriate to ask that sort of question in a public space! Fortunately for her, I am in the camp of having chosen not to have children (albeit with a lot of difficulty making the decision), so it wasn't a case of being having a full meltdown in public because I was desperate to but unable. I honestly don't know what she was thinking!

Oh thank goodness, I just had a moment of realisation that it could have been perceived that I was saying something quite different to what I meant. It was more of a brain dump of my own personal situation

We had decided it just wasn't going to happen after a few years & decided that we would like to foster. Even had a couple of the interviews & then life provided us with a shock. I must say I was healthier then than I had been since I was 14 - well if you ignore the nausea for over 8 months.

Just dropping in to say I've just eaten a delicious runner bean curry which I extracted from the freezer. It was either a recipe you'd linked to, or one that I found as a result of one you linked to. Unfortunately I have no clue what it was, so will have to hunt something down next year!3

greenbee - it could have been one of two recipes that I have copied down. The one is from beebeecee GF and the link can be found HERE or it may well be one of the 6 Sri Lankan curry recipes (which includes a HM roasted curry powder recipe), from R0s1e B1rkett, that featured in the gUard1an newspaper featuring British Summer Veg. I know that I have both the Bean Kari (uses runner beans) and the courgette curry recipes from that source - and have cooked both. The gUard1n link can be found HERE. HTH

Thanks GP! I might actually write them down
It was delicious. Much nicer than the supermarket curry I had last night.
