Hello slowies
a couple of days at home, telephone appointments, knitting and a bit of gardening. Dinner and tea yesterday were both from the freezer, as will be todays tea if, once it's thawed, it's what I think it is...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear5 -
I have just done a hair treatment and a load of laundry. I did the bed covers too. It is lovely and sunny here again today. I am about to go for a walk and then I'm going to look for an online recipe for my lunch when I get home.2

Hope you don’t get a surprise from the UFO (unidentified frozen object) Valli!
Healthy food has slipped a bit as I have tried to catch up with the garden; impossible so I might as well relax about it now. Last night I focused myself and made polenta with a herby borlotti bean and tomato traybake. I have kept some back for my lunch today as it was absolutely delicious. Today will begin with a leisurely bath and washing my hair.I have managed to sew a top for myself and an outfit for GC, also progressed my crochet project. I definitely need the mental absorption from being creative and also gardening and cooking. This needs to be uninterrupted though so I can reenergise from being focused on just one thing.1 -
it was a casserole, which was what i hoped for, so served with mashed spuds.
‘lawn’ cut again, the lawnmower picked up lots of loose grass, green bin almost full.

@Valli - I'm glad your UFO turned out well! I've had a number of interesting meal combo's due to UFO's 😳😂 I hope your haircut went well 😊
@Wednesday2000 - I hope you found something nice to have for lunch and enjoyed your walk 😁
@Moorviews - your food sounds lovely 😁 I made polenta last week for the first time in ages and really enjoyed it
I had a lovely weekend with family - my dd, sil and grandbaby came over just after lunch on Saturday and stayed over. I made Mediterranean tarts for dinner which went down very well and we had a lovely evening chatting and listening to music. Yesterday once they went home I just chilled out in the afternoon - all very pleasant 😊
This morning I've been surfing the internet and came across the following quote:
If you don't make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness.
It's funny how sometimes things just resonate with you and this quote did with me today. I know that I've absolutely not been living a healthy life for the past few weeks since my fall - I've had far too much alcohol, too much rubbish food and little to no excercise - and I need to change that before it becomes a habit.
I have a few events to attend over the next 10 days which will limit (to an extent) my ability to make better choices but I want to really start prioritising my physical health. My mental health is great - slow living certainly nurtures that - but I have let my physical health slide and I'm starting to feel it 🤦♀️
I think part of the reason for it obviously due to my injuries but I think some of it is weather related - it's been horrendous here for months; we've had the odd day of lovely weather but they've been few and far between. It's currently pouring with rain and we've had very strong winds in the past 12 hours - not the 'getting outside for a walk' or working in the garden weather that we should be experiencing and due to my wrist injury I'm limited on the indoor exercises I can do. However, I have to at least start doing something instead of just lamenting my physical decline! 🙄😂
Dh is going away for a week today so I'm going to spend this evening watching some chair yoga practices on YouTube to find some that I like and start doing them tomorrow. I am also going to drag my wellies out in the morning and get a walk in regardless of how soggy it is - it may only be a 10-15 minute one as my knee is still ropey but at least it will be a start! 😉
I'm also going to re-read my Dr Greger books - they will inspire me to take my health seriously again!
Anyway, that's my ramble over - I hope you all have a lovely slow day! 😁

I watched a couple of chair yoga videos last night as intended and have found a couple that I want to try out 😁 there is one channel / yoga teacher who seems to do more chair yoga than anything else so there is a lot of choice!
Last night's dinner was purple sweet potatoes; cannellini beans with tarragon; rocket, watermelon, strawberry and hemp seed salad and balsamic vinegar - very lovely 😁

@KajiKita - I've got three of his books: How Not To Die; How Not To Diet and How Not To Age. They are all about nutrition but based on actual scientific, peer reviewed evidence. I highly recommend them along with the related Nutrition Facts youtube channel and the Daily Dozen app. I find them inspiring and they make me want to take more control of my wellbeing - I can certainly feel the difference when I do!
@beanielou - I'm glad that you enjoy chair yoga! 😁 it's not something I've done before so it's nice to hear from someone who has tried it and liked it!!
Yesterday ended up being a very quiet day - I didn't do anything really, I'm very tired at the moment as dh is away and I find it almost impossible to sleep when he's not here! 🙄🤦♀️ I've got lots that I'd like to get done but I'm not going to push myself - I'm going to have a nice shower and do a meditation and yoga nidra practice then see how I feel. I'll definitely be doing some more reading too.
Food tonight will be made mainly from leftovers- I'm having purple sweet potatoes, bean puree made from the remaining cannellini beans with some garlic and lemon chucked in and I'll cook some carrots and sprouting broccoli to go along with it.

Hello Slowingtons, I'm back! Due to an exploding phone battery and other overly life busyness mostly. We are almost packed for our house move in approx 5 weeks and then 2 weeks after, I will be retiring.
It won't seem real until September when I don't go back to school. Managing to keep sane through knitting and sewing.
Have a good day everyone x9
