@Cherryfudge - thank you! 😊 I hope you're feeling less achey today and that both of your work sessions went well 😁 I googled the Dorset buttons as I'd never heard of them - they look very pretty! I love the old saving the pennies threads - some really good ideas on them!
@joedenise - thank you! 😁 it already has some residents!!
@Floss - that bug hotel sounds insane!! 😳
@KajiKita - I would too - I love red salad leaves, they taste good and look so pretty! 😁
I got everything done that I wanted to do today and had plenty of chill time too. Dinner was lush - almond polenta; roasted tomatoes with basil; chickpeas cooked in stock, lemon and thyme; salad of rocket, alfalfa and broccoli sprouts, pomegranate, strawberries, blueberries, hemp seeds and balsamic. All topped off with zested lemon.

Saw this book and bought it this morning without having seen the above comments - is it good then? I've been away from the boards recently so haven't seen any previous discussion of it.Live the good life where you have been planted.

@Cherryfudge - thank you! 😊 It was very tasty and the stock that I cooked the chickpeas in is lovely and will be used as a base for soup 😁
@dND - thank you for the book info 😁 looks like it may get a lot of downloads 😉
Yesterday was dh's birthday so we had a lovely day just pottering around and dd and grandbaby came over for a couple of hours. Very low-key but that suits us fine.
Food wise yesterday I had a big salad - rocket, alfalfa and broccoli sprouts, pomegranate, strawberries, raspberries, avocado and chickpeas.
Today is going to be very quiet - dh is out with work colleagues tonight so won't be home until late. I've got loads of food leftover so no cooking required, the house is fine and laundry is up to date 🙌 I'm going to read, write and catch up on any new content from the people I follow on YouTube. I may even fit a snooze in!! 😂
Have a lovely slow day 😁

Good evening all - it's been a while since I posted but I try and read the thread every few days! Lovely to catch up on all of your news.
Thank you @Moorviews and @Katiehound for the gardening tips - I had a dash round my local Morrisons on Sunday and got some absolute bargains - for my border and my pots! I also got some plants from The Range too - I was very conscious of price so I didn't go mad - and I've still got room in the border for more fillers. Must make a note to get some summer bulbs as suggested.
I'm now into month 2 of my three months off - eek! It's gone so fast! Last week was a holiday week though - I was on the south coast with friends. Stayed in a caravan and my back is paying for it now! I came back absolutely exhausted so I think I might have picked up a bug. Felt a lot better this morning though, and was raring to go. I got a lot of admin done for my son who's dealing with his dad's (complicated) estate. We are now able to chase the solicitor for the probate application, which is real progress!
Although my first three weeks were productive the last few days haven't been. I'm disappointed I haven't made time for updating my blog, so I need to do that in the next few days.
I'm cautiously pleased with myself for watching my money a lot more closely than I normally would! And I'm slowly eating my way through the freezer and cupboards!
Thanks to @dND for the heads-up about Patrick Grant's book - purchased it (I had to, at 99p and it looks great!). And it seems like just the right sort of book for a 'slow' thread.
I'm off to bed now, in the hope of establishing a better sleep routine.....5 -
Nice to see you again @mrs_slapshot 😁 I hope you've managed to update your blog - well done on keeping an eye on your finances and eating through your stash! I'm trying to do the same thing 😉
Today has been lovely so far - I've spent the past hour or so doing a meditation and a yoga nidra practice and feel very relaxed. I'm going to start my cleaning shortly but I'll have a cup of chamomile tea in the garden and listen to my waterfall first as we've got some sunshine!! 🙌
Dinner tonight is the soup that I made yesterday so no cooking required, I'm going to have a smoothie and a salad for lunch then spend the afternoon reading, writing and relaxing.
Tomorrow we are spending a lot of the day in the garden (weather permitting) to give it a clear up as the weeds have gotten a bit out of hand due to injury and rubbish weather! We've got a family celebration dinner and drinks tomorrow night so after a couple of hours outside I'll be coming in to prepare food and get sorted for that 😁
I hope you all have a lovely slow weekend 😁DNF: £708.92/£1000
