I was scrolling again with my phone as we were watching the last few episodes of the show Seal Team last night and so I deliberately got up and put my phone outside the room and switched it off!
I saw there is a local Buddhist meditation class near me today, but it charges £6 which I thought was a bit steep. I am going to try and do a free meditation on YT in the bath in a minute. I had a bad sleep as I keep having vivid dreams, but the storm wasn't too bad here so that wasn't to blame. It is still windy here, but very mild and sunny. I have put magnesium salts in the bath so hopefully the combination of that and the meditation will be relaxing.

I'm going to pop to the shop afterwards as my Tesco delivery didn't arrive yesterday and I could only book it for tonight instead and we have typically run out of a few things completely. I am going to try and finish my current book this afternoon.6 -
So essentially it is the centre of an Irish rose with 2 'arches' to turn it into a pansy. Clever
Photos always come out huge- I don't think there isa way to make them smaller- well, if there is I haven't found it!!!
If anyone makes the pansy version, secure the end of the first six-stitch chain as low between the two petals at the back (row 3) as you can, otherwise the arches 'float' a bit.
I'll try to remember to resize any future photos before I try to post them.
Today wasn't at all a slow day: I'm helping out in a class and the tutor gave me a lift: we had to divert twice due to flooding and where we went over a bridge, the water was up to within inches of the top of the arch. Very interesting but also gave rise to some hairy moments on the road as a lot of vehicles had diverted through narrow, bendy country roads and would come swinging round corners and driving us up onto the verge. The class was interesting but a number of people weren't there, including the person I was to have supported. I worked through some of the exercises and got stuck on one that I now need to get my head round - but the head is really hyped up and needs to slow down before I even look at it again.
The tutor is very nice though and I have hopes of getting myself knowledgeable enough by next week to assist the student!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@Cherryfudge. The crochet, looks lovely. I’m so envious of all you talented people who can knit, sew or crochet. Sadly they are skills I never learned, despite my dear late grandmas best efforts.
I was working in the office today, but made time for a lunchtime walk and ate my lunch mindfully, rather than eating and working as I often do.
currenlty sat catching up on the forum with a facemask on as I’m finally feeling better and my skin has suffered (ok I look like Rudolph) with the constant nose blowing and a lack of proper sleep. Planning on an early night with my book and fingers crossed a good nights sleep.

Thank you @mrs_motivated, I will recommend Bella Crochet for really excellent tutorials for anyone who wants to try, or try again. It took me a while and a very patient friend, but eventually I got started. I'm still intending to learn to sew too.
I like a lunchtime walk from work on the occasions I've tried it (shift work doesn't allow much of it, so that was training days). I'm sure it's good physically, as well as being a mental break.
I hope the cold leaves you completely, soon. Miserable things, they oughtn't to be allowed.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@Cherryfudge the crochet flower is lovely, I can knit and sew but haven't got round to learning crochet yet.
I'm one of those mad polar bear people that swim outdoors year round in just a costume though I do wear gloves, booties and a woolly hat. I just love it though I always stuff a hot water bottle up my jumper afterwards and drink a hot cuppa from my flask after.
Pesto lentils were lush, had fried plaice and broccoli tonight.
More knitting tonight, the scarf is gradually growing.
Hope you all sleep well8 -
@Wednesday2000 there is a good app called Insight Timer with lots of free meditations. I used to love Headspace but resented paying so much. Not too slow for us the last few days. I’m a livestock farmer and 10pm on Sunday night our alarms start going off due to electric cuts. Cue DH and I up half the night refilling diesel generators etc in the horrible wind. We actually saw what happed to cause the power cut - a transformer exploded over towards the next town, it caused quite a sight. Luckily no one was hurt. So we’ve both been tired and grumpy for a few days now!13

Hi slow living aficionados, if it is not too late I would love to join in please. I have really been enjoying reading along since New Year but have been struggling to put into words what my aims for myself are.Generally, I am a person who loves to walk, read, garden, craft and cook. I am also an introvert and need a good amount of solitude to offset the social occasions, which I do also enjoy. Basically, I am just not finding, or giving, myself the space to follow what I love to do and I end up not feeling my best. I am very easily distracted by the needs of others and consequently don’t end up meeting my own. I am just too used to fitting around other people. As my husband has just retired, I rarely have the home to myself so I need to get better at following my own inclinations and tuning in to what is best for me to do for my wellbeing even though I am not alone. With adult offspring, it is a very full house at times and I never know how many people I am catering for on a day to day basis. This is a very long winded way of saying that I need to centre myself! I hope that if I am posting on the thread I will feel more accountable for doing something that aligns with my needs.12

I used to do mindfulness a lot, but it is so easy to fall out of the habit. I did notice that I could focus better after doing a short meditation yesterday. I really noticed it when I was finishing my book.2025 GOALS

Hello slowies
I'm off to my sewing class tonight. There are just six of us and our amazing teacher. It's so good for head space and can be as social as people want it to be. I'm making a skirt from fabric I bought nearly 2 years ago which is satisfying.
Enjoy your evenings9 -
How lovely to be a 'slowie'.
After a manic day yesterday, I didn't sleep too well and eventually went back to bed and slept after lunch - so a very slow afternoon! I think I'm finally slowed down. I talked my husband into coming for a short walk when I found how mild it was around tea time. It reminded me of warmer days and was a real treat.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living.
