Slow Living - Doing It Old Style!

Hello everyone,
My ability to enjoy slow living will shortly be given a huge boost, as I spoke to my manager today to let him know I’ll be retiring at the end of June 🍾
To celebrate, I came back home, changed out of my work clothes and walked the dog. We followed the path by the river, watching the water, chatted to a few people, then observed the woodpecker in a field on the way home. He’s now settled lying in a sunny spot on the floor, and I’ve made myself a pot of herbal tea 👍
Take care of yourselves

Congratulations @Smudgeismydog!! I can highly recommend retirement- I gave up work 17 months ago and it's lovely not having to deal with people every day! 😁 Your walk sounds lovely 🙂
Tonight for dinner we had the last of the homegrown spaghetti squash with an 'arrabiata' style sauce topped with 'nutty parm' and served with a side salad - very lovely and incredibly fast and easy to make 😁 Piccie doesn't include the salad as I put it on afterwards but it consisted of rocket, black grapes and grated apple and carrots.

Today has been a lovely day so far - I started the day by dry skin brushing, showering, moisturising then meditating for 10 minutes. I had a cup of chamomile tea in the kitchen while I watched the squirrels, deer and birds eating 😍 my dd has been here today so lots of lovely conversation and I'm shortly picking my grandbaby up from school for his second sleepover of the week 🥰 A perfect day!!DNF: £708.92/£1000

oh, I’m so jealous! My day has been so full on, and it’s really brought home (again), why it needs to change. My highlight has been yoga tonight, I could have easily not gone, but I’m so glad I did
I’m looking forward to a long weekend as I’m off work Friday and Monday, spending time away with family. This will help restore me ❤️I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pension, Debt Free Wanabee, and Over 50 Money Saving boards. @Smudgeismydog, sorry your day was so full on - not long to retirement now though! 😉 Have a fabulous weekend with your family 😁
Today is going to be spent making a menu plan for next week from what we have in stores. This week worked out really well although I did make too much of some stuff (mainly because I wanted to use stuff up before it was too late and don't have much freezer space!) so we ate the same thing a few times but it wasn't a problem and I repurposed leftovers a few times. I will finish the inventory of the freezer this weekend and have at least one day of stuff from the freezer.
I'm planning on starting making the fire bricks next week so need to source a bucket to soak the paper/cardboard - I have a small one with my bicarbonate of soda in so I can utilise that once I've found a smaller container for the bicarb but long term, I need something bigger. I don't want to buy one so I'll need to think about options....

Hello all, been lurking but I thought I would say I plan to make some pasties this weekend for hot lunches during this cold weather, it’s a good way to get some veg in.8

@leftatthetrafficlights would one of those big yogurt pots work for soaking the paper? Or is it to small.£71.93/ £180.006

Welcome @MrsCatz! Pasties sound like a good plan! I must admit I don't really eat them as I'm not keen on pastry but they are very handy for a quick and filling meal 😁
@boultdj - thank you for the suggestion of big yoghurt pots, unfortunately they would be too small for making the fire brick goo 🤔 ideally a large wine brewing bucket would do the job but we used them for the nettle and comfrey fertiliser and they became brittle outside and broke 🤦♀️
Tonight for dinner we had lemon grains, carrot noodles with cannellini beans and a random pesto type thing and cabbage...
