  • I had another quiet one yesterday - lots of reading done and meditation music listened to ๐Ÿ˜ย

Today we are having 3 radiators replaced so no heating available for quite a while - perhaps I should have checked the weather forecast before making arrangements! ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚ Thankfully I have a heating fan for the front room (and could do an open fire if necessary) so it's not too bad ๐Ÿ˜‰

While that is being done, I'm planning on making some tomato chutney with the last of our tomatoes and finishing off the damson 'cheese' I made a while ago - it didn't set as well as I would have liked so I've got some pectin to firm it up a bit. It's also in a multitude of different small jars in the fridge so I'll put it into one large one and free up some space ๐Ÿ˜ย

Tonight I'm planning on making some mediterranean tarts with roasted red onions and new potatoes for dinner - even if the rest of the house is chilly, the kitchen will be warm ๐Ÿ˜‰ย

Hot drink is callingย  - have a fab slow day! ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒ

@Brie - the mediterranean tarts are made with shop-bought puff pastry: I put red pepper tapanade (either belazu if I'm pushed for time or I make my own with whizzed up roasted red peppers, onions, garlic, green olives and basil) on the pastry (leaving a gap around the edges) then top with sliced roasted red peppers (the jars are fine if you don't have time to roasted your own), quartered tomatoes (or halved baby ones), sliced green olives and a few basil leaves. Bake in the oven until the edges of the pastry is puffed up and golden brown. The roasted red onions are made by slicing the onions horizontally into rounds around 1/2 inch thick then make a coating by mixing olive oil, wholegrain mustard and maple syrup. Dollop a good helping of the coating onto the cut side of the onion and spred it around then cook in a single layer in the oven ๐Ÿ˜ Your catch up with your old work colleague sounds lovely!ย

@weenancyinAmerica - it's a shame that you don't have a nice place to meet up with friends ๐Ÿ˜” it's funny how we take things for granted - it would never have occurred to me that there wouldn't be cafรฉs or bars in your area ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ I hate loud environments - as I'm getting older I find it really difficult to have or follow a conversation in a loud place ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธย

@Teaparty_mum - I'm sorry to hear you've had a rough couple of days, hopefully your weekend of resting will help things and you'll feel better soon ๐Ÿคžย

Yesterday didn't work out as plannedย  - son in law finished the radiators earlier than expected so didn't stay for dinner. We ended up doing a fridge raid instead for dinner so I'll make the tarts tonight.ย  We had steamed beetroot, cannellini beans, new potatoes with horseradish sauce and a salad of rocket, black grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, papaya and hommous drizzled with my new blood orange balsamic vinegar - the vinegar is spectacular and I could quite easily drink the bottle!! ๐Ÿ˜ Piccie below ๐Ÿ˜ย

Today I have cleaned the house - the chaos from yesterday's work was extensive and was driving me nuts ๐Ÿ˜ณ I really can't cope with a dirty house so am very pleased to have it back to normal!!ย

This afternoon I'm doing very little- dh is watching football so I'm just going to read and relax - I'm glad we had the extra hour today ๐Ÿ˜‰ย

Tomorrow I'm out with my daughter in law with my grandbabies- we don't spend a lot of time with all three of them so I'm really looking forward to that, just hope the weather isn't atrocious!! ๐Ÿคžย

Have a fab slow day! ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒ

pancake breakfast - so I'm feeling a bit (a lot) bloated.ย  And dried out - that's due to the double whammy of streaky bacon and maple syrup.ย  So drinking a half pint of water every time I go past the kitchen.ย

I do believe him indoors is cooking dinner tonight but I'll be doing a bit of veg tidying - I've got a couple of potatoes that I thought would be baked but they've been sitting for a week so I'll likely chop them up and drop them in the freezer for frying up with some onions etc to have for dinner one night.ย ย
