late start to the day (so normal) and after breakfast the OH of my woodworking guy who installed new garden arches on Monday showed up with the modified desk risers I asked him to sort.  Basically I'd bought a lovely simple white wooden desk and chair off gumtree a couple of years back only to discover that the desk was too low for me to sit close.  So a chap I was working with at the time made 4 risers to go under the legs.  But that made the desk too high to work at comfortably (a bit of a Goldilocks dilemma).  So the guy this week took the risers and sliced an inch off each.  I've yet to try them out but hopefully it will be more comfortable.  He's also returned the inch sliced off so I have the 1 inch or 2 inch options.  Meanwhile I need to pay him for all the work he's done.....

And then I've got some soup making going on.  Had half a small crown prince squash left, uncooked, so I skinned and chunked that, peeled the green skins off some little potatoes (very fussy), scraped and chunked a couple of carrots, quartered a shallot and popped them all into some stock to bubble.  I've now added some herbs and some lentils.  Will zizz it in a bit and then heat again with more lentils to give it some texture and serve it tonight with a lump of creme fraiche.  Oh might add some chilli as well at some point.....  Need to pop out and get a ciabatta or similar from the local Lidl to have with it while we watch Bake Off tonight and drool at the desserts.

Need to get round to making my pumpkin pie too as I missed the chance for Thanksgiving on Monday.

@Teaparty_mum - Do the shots work for you? I have problems with my lower back (degenerative Spondylosis). They haven't worked for me. I always wonder if I should be walking more or exercising or something along with the shot.

My insurance company won't pay for any more shots until we try some other things, like massage therapy. I have multiple things going wrong with my legs. Spent over an hour with the doctor today working out some new things to try. And I am going to get a new rollator (the one I am using is over 30 years old and the wheels have worn down so far that the brakes no longer work).
  • @Wednesday2000 - I love leek and potato soup 😍 it's definitely one of my favourites! My go to drinks are chamomile tea and hibiscus and lemon verbena tea - the latter being my favourite in the evening as the colour is just cosy at night (especially if we've got the fire going!) I've never tried a fruity matcha but I can't see why you couldn't make it hot 🤔 I hope all goes smoothly with the builders next week 🤞

@Teaparty_mum - I'm glad you're taking it easy! I'm a great believer in listening to your body and putting your brain on hold when there's an issue - it's far too easy to make things worse if you don't 🤦‍♀️ I'm convincing my brain every day at the moment that it's better to give myself a break from asana practice until my knee has had sufficient time to recover! 😉

Today is a planning day for me - next week is New Moon and I am thinking about my intentions for the cycle ahead. I know that I want to build more activity into my days - I had joined a gym earlier this year but had to stop when I broke a couple of ribs in April and decided that I would be more comfortable just doing it at home - that was the plan but since healing from that I haven't actually done it!! 🙄 I have the equipment I need to do it (nothing fancy, just some kettle bells, dumbells and resistance bands) so I'm going to start doing that next week. I can use the programme that I had at the gym (slightly modified) to start myself off again and increase the weights over time.

I've also slacked off on the self-care stuff - I could put it down to having changing responsibilities but the reality is that I just haven't prioritised it and that needs to be rectified. I've had a few too many UPF's recently too so I need to clean up my diet - it's so easy to slide back into bad habits when I'm disorganised 🤦‍♀️

Anyway, that's all to be considered and planned today and then it's the grandbaby for the weekend 😍 He's not eating with us tonight as he's at a school disco where he'll be eating rubbish so we're having ramen this evening 😋

Last night's dinner was 'lamb' kebabs, cumin and olive fried potatoes, cannellini bean 'hommous', steamed beetroot and a salad of rocket, pomegranate, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, black grapes and balsamic 😋

Have a fab slow day!! 😁🐌
