Car Park Fine

I see your point but I think it's unfair that some aspects of motoring receive such rigorous enforcement (speeding & 'illegal' parking), while other serious offences such as driving without MOT, Tax, Insurance, Over the legal alcohol limit, whilst under the influence of drugs, etc. are almost ignored. This is because of the lack of traffic police these days and government pressure to reduce 'street crime' which is apparently more important.
The only people who can be tracked down and punished for not paying a parking/speeding fine are those who actually register the car with DVLA and so have to pay the taxes, insurance and associated costs. It is only the law-abiding motorists which are vulnerable to these things. If a car isn't registered or taxed, how can anyone track it down?0 -

Ever see that program on BBC1 called "bailiffs",a £60 fine ends up costing £600.
It only ever get that high if you ignore the papers issued through the Copurt Service. Bailiffs need a Court Warrant before they can act and before they can get a warrant the Courts must have dealt with the case.
So firstly Euro Car Parks would have to trace you. They could do this through the DVLA by convincing them they had a genuine need for the information. I am not sure that this would qualify (perhaps someone with a tad more legal knowledge could comment?) also see http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/relinfo.htm#online
You could also say nothing was on your car if they do try and trace you through DVLA. I'd wait out and see what happens,0 -
I thought they usually clamp cars though, not just put a ticket on the screen?0

I used to park in Tesco's car park when I caught the train to London as I do occasionally. One day I got a ticket saying I had stayed too long, I looked around the car park and discovered a NCP sign.
I suppose I was lucky not to get a fine wasn't I.
I used to live 2 minutes walk away from this 24hr store, so I have visited at all times of day. The car park is never even nearly full. If I am not to park there, I accept that. But I wonder about the logic of it. If I was squeezing out their 'serious' customers, I could understand it. But as it was, I used to pick up milk or bread etc when I went to get my car. So they have lost out on that business (low value, admittedly), and I am not sure what they have gained. If there was ever trouble finding a space, it would make sense.0 -
The Sainsburys I mentioned in my earlier post here does get extremely busy. It has no local competition and is a hop, skip and jump from a shopping centre. It genuinely has a problem with parking so I can understand them wanting to ensure only its customers park there.0

That's one of the reasons Sainsbury's will never be as big as Tesco.0

It was far bigger than Tescos up until 1995 then it began to nosedive badly. You never know, could make a comeback0
