Are there any UK bank accounts for adults that provide a book instead of a card?

Paragon have accounts with withdrawal restrictions, which might be a far less archaic solution.

On the other hand, notice savings and fixed term accounts pay slightly more in return for keeping hold of your money for a time, which should be just what you are looking for.

I am going to go with a building society that uses a passbook for withdrawals in branch only as this is the perfect solution for me...the money is there if I need it but it's a bit inconvenient to access! Means I won't transfer it online to another account, or just spend it on a whim!0 -
Could you not consider an account that has withdrawal hurdles?
E.g. a notice account, a regular saver that you incur an interest penalty for early withdrawal, an easy-access saver with limited withdrawals allowed, etc.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, it's definitely optional. My partner opened one at the same time as me and hasn't registered for online banking with it and just goes into the branch to do things.
