Free software to replace MS Money

On my old computer I used MS Money to keep a check on my Home accounts, found it easy to use [which is what I need] but now MS Money is no longer available.
Tried a couple of alternatives but found them difficult to get to grips with, can anyone suggest an alternative which is easy to use.
Thanks.

  • I haven't used MSMoney for years (since I switched to an Apple Mac), but I'm pretty sure there is a version of MSMoney available that still works.

Money 2005 is still available.  I'm currently running it on Windows 10 but understand it works on Windows 11 too.

    That's not technically true.

Can you confirm what you mean by what you said?

Do you mean that it's not available (in which case you're wrong)?

Or do you mean it's no longer supported (in which case you'd be right but this doesn't stop you using it - IF you still want to)?
  • I still use it! Very useful program. I use it for personal finances and for sports club accounts. If you know what you are doing with it and run like a double entry accounts system I find it far easier than any of the sage / QuickBooks options. And it's completely free. You can use the reports function to create accounts / th equivalents.
You should be able to still download the "sunset" edition from Microsoft I believe.
I've got over 25 years of personal finances on it now. It's like a huge lifetime financial diary.

  • I still use it, and keep all my banking, credit card and investment transactions updated, online, using it.

I wish there was another package I could use, but there doesn't seem to be anything close.

Like others, I still use Money 2005 with W11, and update share prices but that need extra one off purchase

This link, which is where mine came from, also gives 2005 for free https://www.garethjmsaunders.co.uk/2011/11/27/download-microsoft-money-2005-for-free/

I still use an ancient copy of MS Money for some things but have mostly transitioned to Money Hub (https://www.moneyhub.com/app). Works online and mobile app, connects to most of my accounts. Not quite free but a generous 6 months free trial:
