Frugal joys today in the form of robins. We have a robin on our allotment which OH feeds every morning at 8 am. The wee thing looks out for him and is always there. We feed other birds too, but the robin always seems to get first dibs. It is a delightful wee thing. As we both had a free day (rare!) we went to Dobbies for seed potatoes, onion sets and a few other bits and pieces. We renewed our Dobbies card to get our free hot drinks and we joined by another robin that had flown into the cafe. It sung its heart out on the chair next to me. A reasonably frugal day as we had gift vouchers for the purchases.
This afternoon we walked to the allotment and did a litter pick. It is near a busy path and litter is either thrown over or blows in. We were joined again by the 'our' wee robin and he hopped along behind us wherever we went. By the time we walked back there were snow showers over the hills and it had turned quite chilly.20 -
What a lovely joy @Prudent robins always look like they're thinking and want to say something I think.
The books sound interesting, I have a large to read pile though! I have banned myself from buying more and have starting using the library, the borrow box app and there's audio books on Spotify. Spotify is my one subscription I can't stop, I pay for a family one which 5 of us use all the time so it's worth it.
I have cancelled sky so netflix has gone. I have free Disney+ for a year with my phone contract instead.
I also sold my old phone for £100 and a gold charm bracelet this week and got over £200, which will go straight on my credit card debt. My interest free ends in May but I want it paid by then so I don't have to balance transfer.
I came home late today, I would have usually swung into the supermarket for something for lunch tomorrow but I came home and boiled pasta, eggs and mixed with some mayo and salad for the next 2 day's lunches.
The hope is all these little efforts add up and make a difference which I'm sure they will.Mum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.

Today was even worse cold wise for me, we work in a converted warehouse and it’s prettt impossible to keep the heat in the main spaces.I was in a room with two heaters but it didn’t get warm enough to work until I was pretty much finishing. It was so cold the printers were displaying to cold to print warnings! So as we normally shop on the way home ( o car share with a close by colleague) we decided to warm up in the cafe. I was at this point shaking with cold and wheezing so it was a good idea. I had a cappuccino (oat milk) and a fry up. It made everything so much better!I didn’t need much shopping, but I didn’t shop wisely because I was full and tired.Anyway that how I ended up with 3 frozen pizza, 3 packets of biscuits, 2 puddings, a pepper, juice and tonic water 😂
oh well. It will get eaten and I still have tins to use so I’ll survive til my next shopping trip.Life happens, live it well.16 -

Just delurking to say there are minimum working temperatures set by government that all employers must adhere to. It might be worth checking.

Just checking in but haven't much to say by way of challenge progress. I seldom go anywhere or do anything other than looking after the animals. Mobile phone contracts (2) are paid this month so that was £21.95 spent. I need to find where I posted my total and put it into my signature so I don't keep losing it.
I blame it on old age creeping up.on me and, as has already been said, working in freezing temperatures doesn't help. It is a little milder tonight - no frost.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
