I understand what you do for a living can have a big bearing on your car insurance premium.
What job title would you suggest for someone who isn't working, isn't looking for work, isn't claiming benefits or pension and is under the state retirement age ?
Where is your money coming from?

If you are being supported by a working partner - homemaker (or whatever the non-sexist replacement for "housewife" is)

If you are a lottery winner or are living on an inheritance or trust fund - independent means

If you have stopped work a couple of years short of you pension kicking in and are living on savings accumulated while you were working - retired will do fine

You wouldn't put a job title in as you aren't working, your question is really how do you describe your work status.

For that question people would need to know more about your background and how you are financially supported. If it's that your married and your partner earns all the household monies then its House Husband/Wife. If its you've won the lottery and living off it/investments then its Independent Means. You say you aren't claiming benefits but if it were ill health then there is often a disable/medical retirement option.

Using Go compare the quotes start from £50 cheaper if I say retired rather than independent means but I intend to actually speak to a human before I go any further.
    Cheers
