Vinted and Yodel missing parcel

Hi all,

My husband sent a package via Yodel. He took the Vinted generated barcode to the Yodel parcel shop, it was scanned, the label printed and off he went. The shop did not provide a receipt.

The tracking did not update and stayed listed as "Booked" on the Yodel website. I contacted Vinted and they asked for proof of despatch. The shop did not offer this. I went to visit the shop and they said that receipts are never printed for Yodel, despite them being printed for other companies. We searched manually through the packages that were left but ours had been collected.

I contacted Yodel who sent me back to Vinted and now I'm stuck in an infinite loop with nobody accepting liability. Having spent hours on live chat and email I'm reaching the end of my tether! Yodel still maintain that Vinted need to contact them on my behalf as "the retailer" and Vinted have refused saying there is no proof we sent it (which is true, but not our fault!).

The package only has a value of £15 but I cannot let this lie!

Any advice/solutions very gratefully received. 😊

  • Dropped off at the shop on the 7th December. No sign of it since. Vinted have now cancelled the order and refunded the buyer so it's just us out of pocket now!

    Whenever I have dropped a yodel into  a collect plus store they scan the barcode on my phone, label prints. they scan the label, receipt prints.

    Looks like the store didn't scan the printed label - which would mean its not scanned as dropped off. It may get scanned through the Yodel network, keep an eye on it, if it does then you can tell Vinted you need paying - assuming you know the Yodel no to track it?

    It all done on QR codes now on Vinted you don’t get full tracking until shop prints labels. I’ve got a Yodel to go tomorrow, my local shop takes it, takes my phone with the QR code on it, prints and attaches a label and gives me a receipt with a tracking number. I would have concerns about any Yodel shop that say that receipts are t given on Vinted. 

    Within about 2 hours of the shop printing my label I get an alert from Vinted on my sale thread to say item has been posted at shop and is on the way to my buyer. 

    I bought something on Tuesday from Vinted, chose Yodel shop to door and had a message Tuesday night to say item had been sent, with a tracking number and then another message yesterday to say item was out for delivery .

    I suspect the shop needs to be questioned!

  • Hmmm, sounds like they haven't done the second step and haven't scanned the parcel label because one was definitely printed. Do we think I go back to the shop? What can they do now that the package has gone? I don't know who to target my questions at now given that nobody seems to want anything to do with the problem!     You should be able to get the tracking number that was generated in the store by asking Collect+ (who run the Yodel retail drop off service). You would need the QR reference (its below the barcode) along with the store and the time you dropped it off. As the scanning of the QR produces the label (as mentioned before and referenced by soolin).

    If Collect+ say it hasn't been scanned then this would be down to the store and I would be going in there and asking for my goods back (its not going to be with yodel if it hasnt got a label on it).

    The only thing visible before you go to a shop to get the label printed is a short code beneath the QR code that is. It a tracking number. The tracking number is on the label that the shop prints and which in many shops the sender never sees.

  • I've got the tracking number but can't use it because I don't have the end post code of the buyer because it is generated just for the label they print in the shop.

    I have contacted Collect+ and explained what happened in store so hopefully they will have something to add to all of this! 🤞
  • Never done it  but if you still have the the QR code  could you use a QR scanner to get the label details that would include the postcode?
