    But would I not be better in the first instance to invest in a Stocks and Shares ISA in order to use the tax advantages associated with ISA's?

    Definitely an ISA wrapper is better than a non ISA wrapper for investments. It's just the one you've chosen doesn't seem like the best option for the amount you're looking at adding

    Would not be paying those charges, have a look at Invest Engine, Trading212 or Vanguard for S&S ISAs.
    I'm sitting with 45% S&S ISA and 45% Cash ISA & 10% Gold
    With the S&S ISA split 90% equity 10% bonds)
