My Amazon stats for the last 30 days show their on-time delivery rate as 81.9%. That's quite a good sample, I'm sending about 200 parcels/day via RM. I have a suspicion that any post purchased through Amazon gets better treatment than the other post.
Are they tracked/signed for? About 2/3 of ours are delivered on time or the following day.
It's the stuff they cannot be measured on easily that's a joke where we live.
They're mainly Tracked 24/48. I never use signed for. That's a pretty poor delivery rate. It's meant to be 95%+.

Chatting with a neighbour who went to the sorting office (joined a queue that went out the door !) to collect any post waiting for them and they were told our postcode's post had been sent away to a different sorting office and they were waiting for it to be returned!

You couldn't make this up if you tried!

I can see how it would make logistical sense to prioritise sometimes. I get occasional batches of returns from Amazon and am surprised when they use Royal Mail. These would be big boxes and sometimes 20kg or more. It won't be just me getting them so if they get a container of big Amazon boxes they'll want to get them out of the way as quickly as possible.
It seems that they need to sort out the balance of parcels v letters. I'm sure the Daily Mail would have been in favour of privatisation, so they shouldn't really complain that RM favour profit over service.

  • My Tracked 24 items seem to be delivered don time still……

I’ve had my second ‘where’s my item’ email today, item sent Saturday before last using 2nd class parcel post. They haven’t opened an INR yet, but if they do then I will need to refund, despite not being able to claim for a lost parcel from RM until the new year, by which time it will probably have arrived.

My son had two deliveries yesterday, first since the back end of November. Rochester sorting office apparently short staffed although there is a two hour window everyday when you can collect your mail but can you imagine the queues.

My SE ones are to ME post codes (+1 CT) so not all affected.  Getting through the mail centres OK, just the local delivery offices affected.

  • Check this article in yesterday’s Daily Mail

Christmas cards could arrive 'as late as February' as Royal Mail is accused or prioritising parcels over letters
