E on and the National database

Hope someone can help me. I’m with British Gas and I want to change to E on. I’ve spoken to e on and my postcode seems to be a problem. We are a new build, living there now for 18 months. The database all suppliers use is incorrect. This is stopping me changing suppliers. I have been onto British Gas, they say everything is fine. At the moment im stuck in a long Q for Royal mail. They deal with the national data base. Can anyone help?
