We had that, and sorted it out by dealing with the current supplier. Be prepared for some block headed responses ..

      "How can I help?"

"You have our postcode wrong, can we get that corrected?"
      "Sure, what's the correct postcode?"
      "Gives postcode"
       - pause -
"That's not what it's coming up as"

It took I think four calls but we got there in the end.

Do you know why yours is incorrect? Our house was part of group of farms and think the postcode would have been for their main farm. Bills still got delivered, it takes more than an incorrect address and postcode to fool a rural postie.

Do you live near the junction of two roads?

I used to go to a house that had differing MPAN/MPRN postcodes because the house was on a corner and the gas came from one street and the electricity from the other.
  • I had been using the findmysupplier.energy website to confirm my MPRN number but my address was not listed.  The rest of the street was there but mine and 2 other properties were not.  I rang the 0870 010 0808 provided on the site and they were able to search using the MPRN I had.  They found it listed against an invalid postcode - it was one digit different to mine.  The other 2 properties on my street were also shown against this invalid postcode.  I contacted my supplier and they have now corrected the entry on the database.
I wonder why the database doesn't have a simple cross-check with Royal Mail database to ensure correct postcodes are entered.  How many more meters are registered to the wrong or non-existent addresses because this cross-check appears to be missing?
