My Disappointing Experience with Dynamo Cover

Hello Group,

I wanted to share my recent, very frustrating experience with Dynamo Cover, hoping to prevent others from falling into a similar trap. In November last year, I signed up for a 12-month vehicle breakdown cover for £20.15. To my dismay, upon completion of the term, they automatically renewed my policy and charged an exorbitant £96.96 - a shocking fourfold increase!

But that's not the worst part. When I reached out to cancel this unexpected renewal, not only was the call abruptly ended by their representative, but I was also informed about a cancellation charge of over £30. Mind you, this happened just a day after the automatic renewal, without my prior consent.

What's more, their customer service is abysmal. Attempts to contact them by phone are a study in patience with near-impossible connections, and when you do get through, expect to meet staff who seem incapable of providing any meaningful assistance or answers.

Today, I am still waiting for the refund that I was promised within 14 days of cancellation. It's December 13, and my account still reflects their unfair charge. I'm sharing this to caution you all - watch out for such predatory practices and think twice before engaging with Dynamo Cover.

  • The faq section at the bottom of their home page clearly spells out the likelihood that the policy would be auto-renewed unless cancelled.  Did you miss that?

Its unfortunate that when blaming a company you fill your story with half truths

When you signed up you had to tick a box to say you agreed to the content of that box which included the policy terms and that the policy would auto-renew. As such you signed up to a 12 month cover plus auto renew.

It really shouldn't have been to your dismay that it auto-renewed given that you agreed to it 12 months ago and they emailed you 21 days before the renewal stating that unless you advise them otherwise it will auto renew. You should only have been dismayed if they didn't auto renew it.

You had 21 days to advise them not to auto renew the policy, you having allowed them to auto-renew it as you agreed to and as they reminded you it would happen they are entitled to charge a fee for the mid term cancellation of the newly incepted policy.

They are even one of the more helpful companies in that you can log in and opt out of auto-renewal at any point rather than having to spend an age to get through to them

I think you are looking at the wrong entity to blame here.
