Payment a Day - Chapter 2024

Morning, dogs are my favourite, they just bring me so much joy! Mine also love an old abandoned football, flat as a pancake doesn't matter! Once, my middle dog found a dummy, and spent the whole walk with it in his mouth, weird but funny!
PAD today is a nice one, DH got his overtime yesterday so today I am putting it to use! £254.592 -

£190
overpayment to debt (Next directory) .
Got an unexpected tax return! . Half of me thinks I should have squirrelled for probable upcoming new glasses or used to pay annual road tax (50% off but must be paid in one go.)
But both those things should be genuinely doable in the next couple of months anyway though .Was getting fed up at only min and lack of progress on debt and needed some wins.
Might come back to bite me; don’t know.
But for now: very happy. That leaves £60 on this month’s next statement . If I could pay that as well, no interest this month (but would need to pay by Friday ).£38 left which would be next month’s statement,
£110 altogether left. Means I should be able to pay this off April (maybe May- depending on glasses.)
I am so pleased to have more movement finally:
Then to decide do I close down the next account entirely or leave open but rarely used?(Would likely be to be able to order petite sized clothing vs normal sizes and try on without having to pay upfront for everything first to try on. That would happen fairly rarely though. )
What would everyone else do once paid off? Close? Or leave open?Monthly Challenges| March Grocery Challenge - £255/£330 | Make £10 a Day - £112/£310

I know what you mean about sometimes needing to see some movement in your overall debt @CoffeeSonata
The overpayment is a good move in my opinion _ I’m guessing Next interest rates aren’t cheap? If you have the willpower not to let the balance creep up again I would think keeping the account sounds a good idea, keeping you the option of trying stuff on without upfront payment.
Your petite sizing reminds me…. I once had this trendy Pretty Green t shirt. I thought it was a bit tight but thought that was the trend and I actually thought I was quite cool for once.
My daughter asked where I got it from - I said I couldn’t even remember, it just turned up in my drawer.
”Dad, check the label!” Turns out it was her size medium T-shirt. She’s about 9 stone and a medium - I’m nearly 14 stone and an extra large! No wonder it was tight!27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 50 -
@AntoMac thanks for the reassurance! Think I'm just a bit argh as have (private) dental hygienist today! (£102!)
I just really wanted to sort the next account out - as usually I never carry a balance there.
Interest rate is 24.9% APR. Which is around £6-8 a month for me.
Your t-shirt made me laugh! It probably did look fine!

@CoffeeSonata sounds like good use right now, especially if you have plans to cover spends coming up! I totally get it, the movement on debt is what motivates us, isn't it? I think you should keep it open if you can manage it, if it will cause more debt, then close it. Temptation is too much sometimes
Haha @AntoMac I love that story, tight tops were in though, so I bet you rocked it!

Morning! £40.25 to savings today
@CoffeeSonata I think I would keep it open, as you do use it. But make sure you have sinking funds to pay it off - does it have an annual charge? I know it used to when the physical catalogue used to be sent out... If not then no drama for leaving it open as long as you have the will power.Life gets in the way...PADding is addictive...Saving's better than spending...My savings diary - Now for a healthier, wealthier me2025 1p challenge #41 | Cash envelope challenge #01 | SPC #017Sealed pot 2025 £6573 | EF £1000/£1000 | Sabbatical £3364/£6000 | Travel savings £1508 | Sinking pots £25711 -
