Universal Credit if I have a holiday lodge?

Hi, I’ve recently become disabled and live some of the time in my sons home and the rest of the time in my holiday home as it’s all on one level and I’ve got mobility issues. My holiday home is on a site where it can’t be rented out it’s only for personal use. Am I entitled to claim Universal Credit? I done the MSE benefit calculator but when I put in the holiday home (capital) was worth £90,000 it said that was too low a sum for property in this country to be worth but that is all it’s worth….. so does that mean I can’t apply or that the holiday home isn’t counted as capital?

Where do you live, as in the address where you get your post, registered to vote, registered with your GP etc.!

Is it just a holiday home or can it be for residential use?

Any capital over £6K reduces the amount of UC, anything over £16K means you’re not entitled to claim UC.
If you’re living in a home you own this is not taken into account, if you have a second home then this is added to your capital.

The thought of anyone in the DWP/government telling you that no home could be worth as little as £90k made me smile.I did a quick search on Rightmove. If your holiday lodge is in Devon (going by your name) there are quite a lot of holiday lodges £90k and under. In cheaper parts of the country I found thousands of residential properties for £90k and less.1

I agree it's ridiculous. As a fan of Homes Under the Hammer I've seen many properties in the North of England worth well below that figure even once done up.The OP says she spends part of her time at she son's home and part at her holiday lodge. On that basis she only owns one property so that shouldn't be an issue.

Only owning one home and spending time there does not mean anything by and of itself. Where the OP actually lives, officially, will give the holiday home context as to whether it matters or not.TELLIT01 said:Murphybear said:The thought of anyone in the DWP/government telling you that no home could be worth as little as £90k made me smile. It won't be a person saying that, it will be 'Computer says No'. It could well be that they live in a holiday home but cannot use it as their main residence. It's a common issue on mobile home parks.

Yes, that's why the question has been asked to OP, otherwise it's all guesswork.Bradden said:It could well be that they live in a holiday home but cannot use it as their main residence. It's a common issue on mobile home parks.

Hi, my holiday lodge has a 12 month leisure license and I own it outright but it’s not residential. So I live between my sons home and the holiday lodge but because my sons home is a townhouse and the bedrooms are all upstairs and I’m disabled so I can’t always manage at my sons house. Sorry for not answering individually but I’m new on here and couldn’t work out how to do it lol
