Cancelled flight not actually cancelled

Hi, has anyone had this experience and if so how did they handle it and were they entitled to compensation from the airline. Before departing on holiday, I received an email from Easyjet telling me that my return flight was cancelled and being offered either a refund or the option to travel home 1 day earlier. I phoned to double check as the flight was still showing for sale on their website and was assured that back office had just not updated the website. I changed all my plans and opted to travel home one day earlier. The day I was due to return, I found out that my original return flight had not been cancelled. Has anyone any experience of this?

How long was it between the cancellation email and the flight's departure date?0

More than 2 weeks.0

There are no compensation rights if you're notified of a flight cancellation more than two weeks in advance, so the later reinstatement of the flight (if it was ever actually cancelled) won't change that, irritating though it undoubtedly was!0

Oh, yes, that's really irritating. Thanks for the info.0
