How do I get the cover off this light fitting?

I've had this Bosch oven hood thing for a few years. The fan doesn't seem very effective (whenever we cook, we still get a lot of condensation on the kitchen windows). Also, one of the bulbs has gone but I am not sure how to get the plastic cover off to replace the light. Can anyone advise how to remove these type of light bulb covers? Thanks.

Would have thought you should be able to gently prise that off by getting a small thin blade under the short edge? Does it say in the handbook? Google it?0

That part of the front edge of the grille looks as if it's a handle to remove the grille - if you do that, does it allow you to push the light fitting out from behind, after isolating it from the power of course. Do these things have filters in them that might be blocked, causing your other issue?0

I had a similar cooker hood in the past and changed the bulb by removing the filter covers and reaching into the gap between the metal housing and the plastic bulb cover. It was fiddly, particularly when having fingers like bananas.0

Agree with Baser999, it's likely it will prise off from one of the short edges, photo isn't clear enough to say for certain which is the correct/easier end to do it from.0

We have a similar hood.
Remove the filter(s) and you should be able to unscrew the lightbulb.
Then run the filter(s) through a dishwasher to improve the function.0 -

Is it a connected with ducting to the outside or just set to recirculate? I suspect the latter if it doesn't ventilate your kitchen properly. Extractors are near on useless (and very noisy) unless ducted to an external vent.Signature on holiday for two weeks1 -
If you plan to lever it off I'd say those three bits on each LONG side are the tabs where the plastic overlaps the metal so you need to do your levering at one or other of the end ones of those.0

Hi everyone, thanks for the replies. I just spoke to the manufacturer and they sent me these instructions, according to the details on page 7, the bulb cover can be removed - http://media3.bsh-group.com/Documents/9000773608_B.pdfI'm yet to work out whether I have a halogen or filament bulb. Some of you have suggested removing the grease filters. I am able to do this quite easily but accessing the bulb by doing that alone would be quite tricky as it's hard leaning over the hob and twisting my head 180 degrees to be able to see the fitting.

Your problem accessing the bulb sounds similar to when I need to change the filters on mine (not Bosch) Almost impossible to see what you're doing so removal is fairly straightforward as you simply have to grip and turn. Fitting the replacement is a different matter as it's a b*gger to line up the clips when you can't see because your hand is in the way.

UPDATE: I have since managed to remove the bulb cover. It was done, as some suggested by gently prising off on the short edge at the left hand side and then sliding the piece of plastic across to the left. Now I need to figure out where the socket is so I can turn off the hood before attempting to remove the bulb.0
