Is getting a BT line installed worthwhile or are there other, cheaper broadband solutions?

We're looking to move to a house which doesn't currently have a BT phone line. Is it worth paying the £140 to have one installed for broadband, or are there most cost effective solutions out there? The 4g signal seems to be quite reasonable.

More cost effective would be wireless broadband with no set up cost.Three are doing 3 months £0 then £22 per month on 24 month contract. Average speed 150MbpsOther options may be avilable in your area.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1

Does it have any other connectivity such a Virgin fibre?
Mobile broadband is worth considering, but check you get a good consistent signal with decent speeds. Average speed is hugely more variable by location with mobile signals so the quoted 150Mpbs could well be a pipe dream.0 -
Have you got the £140 from an ISP? They usually lose at least some of it in the contract term0

Most broadband providers using Openreach do not charge an installation fee , if you take 24 month deal its almost certain that you will only pay the monthly fee , plus possibly a small fee for router delivery or some other random ‘fee’ , but nothing like £140 , the only exception is you would get charged this amount is if the provider didn’t have a minimum term , so would make this charge incase you quit after a very short period of time , in part that’s why most providers want a 12-24 month minimum, so that their costs are covered , something that wouldn’t happen if you coukd walk away after just the first 30 days notice .
Unless the address has never existed before , so something like a barn converted into a dwelling, then there won’t be many addressees that can order via Openreach network that have never had Openreach service at some point in the past , even if there no evidence of it , like a master socket or wire from a pole .0 -
