Ryanair flight cancelled twice in 2 days

I was travelling with my girlfriend last week to Krakow for a weeks holiday. We went to airport for our flight home on Friday 1/12/23 2205. It was cancelled at 1208am and rescheduled for 2/12/23 at 1500. We had no information on as to why it was cancelled but just told to come back the next day. We had to find a hotel room on our own, use an Uber to get back to the booked hotel and then hang about until it was time to come back to the airport the next day. The flight for 2/12/23 was again delayed. We sat around the airport, waiting and waiting, was told there was delays and more delays and eventually were told to go to boarding gate at about 2300. We stood in a queue until 0130 to be then told it was cancelled again and that we were to get our own way back home to Edinburgh. We had to book a hotel again for that night (early hours in morning) and then book our own flights home. We couldnt rebook with Ryanair (to be frank we didnt want to after the way we were treated) as the earliest flight they had was Thursday. We both work and needed home, after already being delayed 2 days. We eventually managed to get flights booked and landed back in Edinburgh 1900 on Sunday 3/12/23which cost almost £800. No one from Ryanair was there to help, there was no reason given as to why the flights were delayed/cancelled - other flight companies left on both days so it wasnt weather related. The stress and inconvenience caused was unacceptable and the overall experience was one we will never forget. We are young travellers and had to rely on parents back home helping and advising - which should have been covered by the missing ground staff. We received updates from Ryanair on the app which were completely outdated as we knew we were delayed hours before receiving them. Just looking for the best way to tackle this and hopefully recover money we have lost.

Best way to tackle this is to submit claims for out of pocket costs incurred for hotels, taxis, reasonable meals and incremental cost of new flights. You may also be eligible for fixed tariff compensation, depending on the root cause of the two cancellations, but if possible it would be best to focus on expense recovery first....
