Yesterday I finally received a letter with a date for the hearing of the claim. At 10am, 19th June 25.

Been a long wait for this next stage.

DCB have until 22nd May to pay the court fees.

With regards to the numerous discontinuations from DCB in recent years. Have they usually come before the cut off date for court fees. Or do they usually ride it out right until the court date.

I only ask as I do expect this to be discontinued, but I am prepared for court.

However, if they do pay the court fees and ride this out to court. I'll have to book 2 full shifts off to make the court hearing. And so even if I win the court hearing, I'll still be out roughly the same amount of money they are claiming from me anyway  :D

DCB discontinuances usually come before the cut off date for court fees.

But prepare your WS just in case.

This is yet another UKPC rubbish case, especially the UKPC signes
DCBL will play the game until the last minute and will no doubt try to do a deal with you which you ignore

It's either a court spanking or discontinue for them.  It's called abusing the legal system

With the cut off for the court fee being yesterday. Is it worth contacting the court to find out if DCB paid the court fee?

As the last update I got from the court took a week to arrive by post, and the sooner I know if I have to arrange time off work, the better for me and for everyone else at work.

I also don't want to fully prepare the witness statement if I don't have to.

I rang up telephone enquiries from the gov.uk website on the Manchester Civil Justice Centre page today.

I was told they cannot confirm if the hearing is going ahead as there is no record of the court fee being paid. But the case also hasn't been struck out. So I got no answer really. The telephone line did take me to a person not at the court. Should I find another number to ring someone within the court?

Also today I received a witness statement from the claimant. But also being told no record of court fee.

So I'll just keep treating this like the hearing is going ahead. Annoyingly.

    I think you'll have to.

If you end up attending the hearing only to be told 'you can go home, it's discontinued' then INSIST ON SEEING A JUDGE FOR 5 MINUTES for your wasted costs.

Morning all, I was unable to go to sleep until I had finally compiled all the evidence into my Witness Statement. My Witness Statement has come to 57 pages long, is this an issue? I've seen some posts suggesting to keep the Witness Statement to 50 pages, however in my Notice of Allocation to the Small Claims Track document that outlines the requirements for the Witness Statement, there is no mention of a maximum page length.

Would someone please be willing to read a redacted draft I've made for the purpose of MSE readers?

I'm concerned that I've either rambled on too much on a topic, or that I've raised points that do not need to be raised. Or at least wouldn't look favourably on myself.

Below is a google drive link to a redacted version of my Witness Statement intended for readers of this forum.

MSE redacted version of Defendant Witness Statement

I'm going to try and get a couple hours sleep finally.

    Thanks in advance

Sorry to bump this thread, just hoping for a second opinion.

Another thing I'm also worried/concerned about, in my Witness Statement is the addition of adding the "DCB Legal record of private parking claim discontinuations" thread. Should I remove this?

I'm off out soon...  but remove that and try to get it to no more than 50 pages (could make images smaller/ two exhibits on one page, etc).
