Is my phone failing

Options
Hi all,

Ive had my poco f3 for around 2-2.5 years and in the last week or so ive noticed that when ive made phone calls on the odd time i can hear the other person but they cant hear me so Ive had to hangup and call back. Is this an indication that my phone is slowly on its way out as the battery isnt lasting the day on a single charge and i had bought a new battery to fit when i got the chance but its pointless if my phone isnt going to last

Any suggestions would be most appreciated

Kind regards Mark

The phone call thing happens all the time, have taken and made no end of calls where they can't hear me and I can't hear them...

The battery is the first thing that'll go in most phones so if you got it cheap enough and its accessible (which is a luxury these days as most phones are sealed), then just change it.

Hi Neil, thanks for your reply. I've watched a YouTube channel on how to change my battery so I feel like I can change my battery successfully

Unlikely to be battery  if calls are just dropping or corrupting

Has ur phone got wifi calling /Volt.?

    Switch it off

    1. Find "SIM cards & mobile networks"
    1. Press Settings.
    2. Press SIM cards & mobile networks.
    3. Press the required SIM.
    4. Press the indicator next to "Use VoLTE" to turn the function on or off

Thank you for the reply. I looked where you said on my phone but couldn't find it. The only thing I could find was WiFi calling.

If it is always them not hearing you but you can hear them fine check your microphone, try recording a video and playing it back. If you have a hands free mic or can use Bluetooth (in a car or whatever) try that too.  Also try calling from different locations in case it is a signal issue (but I would expect that to be 2 way). Finally if possible try a different sim in your phone before you disassemble the phone.

To state the obvious, it appears to be a failing microphone on your phone. Nothing to do with the battery: that just means a shorter time before it's empty.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Make sure the "hole" for the microphone isn't clogged up with muck!
